From tap at 5e Noordelijk Lentebierenfestival, Leeuwarden. Aroma is huge cough syrup, herbs and spices, lots of Beerenburg, ’kruidenbitter’, dark malt, liquorice. Very sweet flavour, fairly cloying. Body is above medium with a sticky mouthfeel. The Stout is quite overpowered by the Beerenburg. I should hate this but it’s actually pretty good, sweet and sticky but it delivers if you like the huge Boomsma influence.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Almost black colored brew but it's dark brown. Sweetish bitter of taste with hints of caramel, sweet kind of nuts, dried fruits and very subtle the Frisian liqueur Beerenburger.

Bottle from suermarket in Friesland. Color: Black mocha head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee, herbal notes. Taste: Liquorice, roasted malt, subtle herbal notes, boozy and coffee hints. Full body, below average carbonation. Moderate sweet and moderate to over moderate bitterness. Nice.

Bottle from Beerdome. Almost black with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, chocolate, light herbal and light dried fruit. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish. 020423

Fles gedeelt met Roelzie1986. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een rode gloed en een medium schuimkraag. Het heeft een kruidige beerenburg achtige geur. De smaak is moutig, gebrand en kruidig.

33cl Bottle from Slijterij Borger. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of hard liquorice, some laurel, calamus, light herbal, roast, caramel. Flavour is medium sweet to sweet, roast, liquorice, herbal liquor, calamus, cinnamon, bitter finish. Medium bodied. Enjoyable.

Bottle. Almost black. Malty roasty caramelly, slightly herbal aroma with beerenburg. Malty sweet caramelly roasty herbal flavor. Alcoholic because of the beerenburg. Sharp, medium bodied. Lacks subtlety.

Bottle at home. Pours deep brown, nose is roasted, raisins, treacle, herbal, taste is similar, quite sweet, a hint of varnish.
