York, otherwise known as the Chocolate City, has had a long history with chocolate and confection production - the air would smell of chocolate and chocolate dust would cover the city so this is our dedication to its delicious past. Dark malts combined with cocoa powder and cacao nibs provide a chocolate richness, with lactose for a soothing creaminess.

Can from EeBria. Pours black with brief beige head; a little disappointing. Nice aroma of sweetness, light roasted malts, chocolate biscuit galore, lactose, hint of spice, cocoa powder. Taste is sweet, bitter mid-roasted malt, chocolate, a touch of syrupy dark fruit, cocoa powder. Medium body and carbonation, light drying. Tasty.

Panda at home, thanks to Fergus, 11/06/22. Black with a good sized lasting khaki head. Nose is sweet chocolate, coffee, dark malts, spice, brown sugar dusting. Taste comprises sweet malts, chocolate, vanilla, light coffee, mellow roast. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close. Ok stout but comes across a little artificial tasting on the flavour front.

Can at home picked up from HOTM. An oily mid brown coloured pour with a small light tan head that fades to a halo. Aroma is milky coco powder, oily, honeycombe, light tangy dark chocolate, . Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nutty chocolate, oily cocoa, honeycombe, dark choc, some jammy raspberry. Palate is semi sweet, oily, mellow carbonation. Ok. Bit cobbled together.

440ml can. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate and mild roast malts. Taste of sweet milk chocolate, mild coffee roast, creamy lactose. Medium bodied, lactose making this feel fuller than most stouts at this strength. Really good.

Cask @ Crown and Kettle, Manchester. Practically black with a creamy-smooth off-white head. It's a smooth stout with plenty of chocolate and dominant roasted malts in both aroma and taste.

Black beer, thick tan head. Smell is rich with cocoa and malt. Flavour has chocolate, cocoa powder, sweet toasty malt. Decent body to it and very drinkable. Just a really solid and very sessionable chocolate stout.
