This fruit beer uses classic ‘ figgy pudding’ flavours and malts to enhance the raisin backbone of this strong, seasonal, mahogany ale. With a rich and velvety mouthfeel and a soft apricot and prune acidity, Brazen Raisin finishes with a lasting raisin sweetness and depth.

Can. Unclear amber body under a small, diminishing off-white head. Aroma has red berries, dry fruit, some brown sugar and wood/cellar notes. Taste is sweet, and feels a bit like blackcurrant juice with prunes, toffee and wet, wooden cellar. Not as bad as it seems, but not a perfect match for my taste. Fine body and same aftertaste that ends a bitt too much on the sweeter side.

440 ml can, from Vinmonopolet Hinna - Stadionparken. ABV is 7.5%. Hazy and deep reddish brown colour, moderate to small off-white to beige head. Aroma of dark dried fruits, particularly prunes and raisins, also hints of molasses and brown sugar. Very fruity flavour, notes of apricot and raisins, a moderate acidity, not too sweet, moderate hops. Unusual and nice to drink. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brazen Raisin on 03 Jun 2022 at 19:54 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Can shared at Ebenezers, Crewe (thanks Erika). Pours a cloudy dark chestnut with minimal off-white head. There’s a chewy aroma of treacle and raisins. In the mouth there is an initial sharpenss in taste, but overall it is quite sweet. Flavour has plenty of molasses, raisins, dried apricots, toffee and general dark fruits. Frutiness lasts into the finish. This is rather nice, but I’m not quite sure I’d classify it as a Dubbel. Maybe “Belgian Strong Ale” or simply “Strong Ale” ?

Can from the brewery online shop. Pours clear red-brown with a short-lived thin off-white head. Aromas of dried fruit, raisins and toffee. Taste is more of the same, light spice too. Dry finish.
