Bottle. Amber color. Malt, toffee and hints of dried fruit in the aroma and flavor. A bit ovrcarbonated for a barley wine. Sweet. Citrus in the finish,

Tap @ Duque, Lisbon. Pours misty gold, off-white topping. Aroma is floral, sweet. Taste presents a balanced floral, candied fruit character, not overly sweet, some hoppy moments. Not bad.

Bottle. Color: Amber, very thin white head. Taste: According to the label this is supposed to be a barley wine...? Ok, there are some notes of a barleywine, but this one is lacking everything: Color, alcohol, taste, warmth, complexity and body. What remains is a very thin taste of barley, some maltiness, bread and a lightly bittery thin finish. And some lightly metallic and cloves hints too. Definitely not what you expect from a barley wine. Don't know if it's ment to be like this... Not worth buying...

Amber colour with no head. There’s not much to this one. Some fruit sugars and boiled vegetables. A little yeasty dryness.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 17D). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L006. AROMA: Predominant cereal husk aroma with a solvent-like note of the same intensity. background of medium-high malty aroma with a caramel character. medium-low dried plums and dried figs. APPEARANCE: light amber color and translucent. low to medium-low white head with medium-low to low retention. some leg formation. TASTE: initial cereal husk flavor with a medium-low to low malt-caramel presence. medium-low bitterness with a semi-dry finish. no esters perceptible. PALATE: medium body with a slight texture. medium-low carbonation. slight alcohol warmth. OVERALL: a barleywine without complexity that needs improvement.
