At BXL. Crisp malty, soft caramel, massive bitter fresh hop onslaught. Some sweetness but also dry. Good De Ranke style.

Draft sample @ BXL BeerFest 2022.

Unsure this would even qualify as IPL (even if De Ranke sells it as Belgo-US lager IPA) as the intent by De Ranke clearly was to brew this Boston Lager as it was done by German migrants who arrived in Boston and instead of using the classical lager bottom-fermenting method, they used a top-fermenting method given that the brewing equipment available to them at the time only allowed for top-fermeting. Adding that De Ranke is one of the very few Belgian brewers to solely use whole hop cones.

3x Tap at Speciale Belge . A perfect sessionable beer ! Pours an unclear amberblonde. Medium to medium small white head, very creamy though. Scent is robust, mild yet clear, natural crispy malts. Tad caramelly. Bit earthy from the hops. Taste is full, quite heavy (yet balanced ) refined earthy green bitterness. Typical De Ranke profile, who do a perfect job for these kind of beers. Hoppyness, intensity and balance all match up. Lovely sessionable beer !
