Bottle from Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Aroma is cold coffee, dark malt, hops, chocolate, roast, slightly tart dark fruits, charred notes. Flavour is light sweet and slightly tart with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. Not your typical full rich sweet Impie Stout, medium bodied with some tart fruity and hoppy notes, roasted coffee and chocolate. Not exactly what I want from an Imperial Stout, but very nice regardless.

Bottleshare at Matteo’s. Opaque dark brown beer, tidy tan head. Palate is smooth and soft, reasonable fine carbonation. Spicy soft dark malts, mild dark chocolate and coffee. Mild dark fruits. Spicy finish. Smooth and drinkable.

Bottle from Clapton Craft. It pours jet black with a thick dark tan head. The aroma is rich, loads of unami, charred wood, toasted sesame seed, light soy sauce, jammy berry and treacle. The taste is dry, bitter, dark chocolate, hard roasted malt, salty, tobacco, charred wood, cracked black pepper, umami, liquorice and ash with a lingering dry, roasted finish. Full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Very savoury. I think some more sweetness would balance this out a bit. So-so.

Bottle @ Van Moll Brewpub. Opaque dark brown to black color, medium sized light brown head. Aroma is malts, iron / metallic, grainybrown malts. Taste malts, brown malts, malt bitter, rusty iron as far as that’s a flavor. Meh.

Bottle from the brewery and drunk at home. Black beer lasting thick dark tan head. Good solid dark chocolate flavour. Dry liquorice flavour. Dry finish. Good simple impy stout flavours. Dark chocolate and liquorice and molasses. Dry finish. Very dry beer. Good. Yep, I liked this. Simple but well made. A bit of heat. Good malt though.
