She‘s back, with a vengeance! Having broken out of ‚Brennivín‘- barrels, that previously were used to mature sherry, Garún petrifies you with notes of sherry, spice and Nordic berries.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is potent Brennivín with roasted malt, caramel, brandy, oak, dried fruits, touch of juniper, molasses, some alcohol. Medium sweet flavour with a bitter and boozy tingle in the finish. Full body. Nordic berry, wood and lingering Brennivín tones in the aftertaste. Quite good.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with some black chocolate notes with some berry notes and light sherry barrel notes. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate and berry notes with some light sherry notes with light dry roasted malt notes. Body is full with good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. Nice mix of berries and chocolate notes.

Import bottle. Thanks to Phil Boutin. Accents of sweet red wine, wild cherries, strong coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, anise and spices forming the main characteristics of this olfactory with incredible complexity. The foam is brown, effervescent, and barely maintains on the black and well opaque liquid. Accents of molasses as a starter as well as winey and chocolate notes, coated in a strong and powerful alcohol. Spices also present from either the barrel or the hops used. Bitterness is completely downgraded by alcohol. The body is slightly less round and creamy than the standards of style. Immensely complex this stout but at 14% alcohol harms more than it helps to enhance its full potential.
