Tap at the brewpub with K&J&R! Black body, tan head. Chocolate, light butter in the aroma, cake-like. Caramelly, light taste, some other dark malty notes showing up, quite light. Not bad, not great.

Cobolis online tasting. Dark brown with medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, cocoa, caramel. Complex taste with roasted amlt, cocoa, dark chocolate, light nutty finish. Very good.

Bottle via Beermalade tasting. Conflicting body impression, objectively rather thin, but the massive maltiness imparts a very silky mouthfeel, which pulls it up to medium. Med-high carbonation. Medium bitterness, low sweetness. Hops in the background. Overall fully malty in character. Loads of caramel, toffee, cocoa. Deep roast (coffee) present, but less than I expect in an Irish stout. I even get light dark fruits/berries. Also a bit of diacetyl, but that just might be the plethora of malts interacting. Slightly minerally feeling, which is on point in style. Overall the beer is good. But I am distracted by the style, which it does not feel into. My idea of dry stout is having a more simple, but intense malt character, this needlessly embraces a whole spectrum of flavours, which in the end paradoxically work against it, creating conflicting feelings in body, etc. Good but not great.
