500ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, dark malty aroma, notes of malt lozenge, a very light touch of dark toffee. Taste is relatively dry, minimally nutty and toasty, dark malty with subtle residual sweetness, hints of malt lozenge and toffee, some bitter hop. Minimally creamy, watery texture, smooth and soft, simultaneously minimally dry palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Well balanced, well controlled sweetness - good.

Bottle shared on the train from Sulzbach Rosenberg to Nuremberg during the Bamberg Jolly. Pours clear, rich gold with a foamy, off-white head. The beer’s characteristics include toasted dough, light butterscotch, some toffee, faint alcohol. Medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Moderately sweet to finish with touches of brown sugar, bread and toffee. A rather enjoyable dunkel.

Pretty drinkable. Dark and flavourful, not much head or carbonation. Worth revisiting.
