A strong ruby ale with spicy hop aromas and a rich malty finish. Brewed from the finest malted barley and Kentish hops this 'BEAST' of a beer is deceptively easy-drinking for its strength and is conditioned naturally in the bottle to produce a sparkle and sediment characteristic of all great living beers.

bottle at home ... copper brown ... thin tan head ... soft sweet rich cherry toffee malt nose ...light fizz ... hint of cola ... roast toffee ... dark fruits ... dark sugers ... ok but nothing special ... almost a coffee hint

Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Toffee, malts, berries, baked apple and pear aromas. Chocolate, caramel, raisins and cloves in the taste. Quite smooth and easy drinking. Gentle bitterness on the palate. Not bad.

Bottled. Reddish amber colour, mediumsized beige fluffy head that leaves nice lace. Aroma is fruits, parfume and some mild notes of sour wooden notes. Flavour is fruity, wooden, mildly yeasty along with some herbal and mildly grainy notes as well.

Bottle, 6%. Malty aroma, a bit sweet hoppiness. Cloudy dark amber colour. The flavour has a spicy hoppiness and the aftertaste a roasted bitterness.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of kook. Clear, orangey brown with a lightly creamy, off-white head. Slightly perfumy, hoppy nose. Medium body, malty and lightly caramelish. A dry and rather clean, hoppy finish. 210906

A hazy deep red beer with a thin rim of off-white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of berries and lighter ones of metal. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of berries, leading to a dry slightly woody end.

Cask at Dover Beer Festival. I am a self confessed fan of this brewery and this beer bears all the hallmarks of why I like it. Really interesting malts and a good agressive hop flavour. Sweetish malt with good fruit leads to a big satisfying finish. As you can tell I am a big fan

Fully hazy orange-amber; amber-yellow head, irregular, fast dwindling. Perfumed, vanilla, cardemom peel nose. Touch smoked flavour, tobacco-ashes. Quite some hops, not exactly the best IMO. Lots of malt, giving some (bitter) chocolate in the finish + more tobacco. Medium bodied. Mineral water feel, refreshing despite the dark malts. Nice beer, but only a Brit would call a 6% ABV beer a "strong" ale...
