On tap at BrewDog Roppongi, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of rich sherry barrels, raisin, and some dark sugars. Flavour is rich, with lots of sherry barrels, dark dried fruits, alcohol, and toffee. Boozy, sugary and barrel-heavy. Excellent.

Poured from the tap. Near black with no head. Raspberry, feint licorice, some nice barrel notes, especially from the olorosso. Flavours are all there, but comes across as an almost thin mouthfeel. ABV dangerously hidden.

Draft. A black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of raspberries, roasted malt, coffee, and wood. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, raspberries, wood, and coffee, leading to a bitter finish.

5th January 2023 Almost opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, very mild dryness, decent fine carbonation. Rich dark malts of slightly light on the mouthfeel. Creamy dark malts more than tempered by the licorice which is rich and slightly savoury. Raspberry comes through in a rounded off manner, no acid or sharpness and that's a good thing here. The Oloroso barrel unsurprisingly provides a lovely ripe fruity richness. Some spicy esters before the finale. Struggling to find the Port barrel, think it's getting blasted out by the raspberry. Leaves a spicy linger and a stickiness on the lips. There is a lot going on here and for me, a bit too much. The Oloroso barrel tastes marvellous but its struggling against the licorice and the raspberry dominates the Port barrel. Less would have definitely been more. Still a pretty good beer. 3.7

Borefts XII. Day 1. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, good fine carbonation. Smooth dark chocolate malts, a little creamy sweetness. Good barrell elements. Soft Oloroso and a mild port wine red berry fruits. Berry fruit vodka on the back end. Spicy dry finish. A rich and flavoursome affair.
