Pours unclear blonde. Small white head. Scent is very funky, full, wood, raw and rough. Taste is full, sharp, higher than expected acidity. Very funky, rough, mature lambic. Very malty finish.

The other first-born by Publitasting, a rental company for catering equipment and organiser of beer tastings, who recently took up lambic blending, working with De Troch and Eylenbosch lambic. Moussy, snow white, loosely knit and opening, dissipating head on a hazy apricot blonde robe with orangey tinge. Aroma of white yoghurt, green apple, sourdough, butter (oddly), apricot, indeed a faint whiff of lemongrass which for me could have been stronger, soaking wet wood, stale sweat. Tart onset, lemony acidity with rather puckering effect initially, mellowing down further on and becoming yoghurty-lactic, over fruity esters reminiscent of unripe peach, green apple and hard pear, medium carbonated with supple mouthfeel; sourdoughy and bready core strongly dried by this acidity, but acting refreshing, with indeed a light herbal lemongrass note - but I would not have recognized it if I had not known, to be honest. Lime- and green apple-like features in the end, ongoing refreshing sourness and bready soil, slight woodiness - and very little of that typical 'bitter plant' element I usually find in De Troch lambic. Lemony sourness dominates till the end, but I do find it quite refreshing - just the promise of lemongrass is not really fulfilled. Still an interesting product - this man, Geert Demuynck, clearly opts for innovative flavours in lambic instead of tackling classic formulas like oude geuze and oude kriek, so who knows what else may come out of his imagination in due time...

10/IX/22 - 75cl bottle @ Belgian Beer Geek Gathering (Gent), BB: 3/XII/25 (2022-1120) Thanks to Bierridder for sharing the bottle!
Clear orange beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: nice, funky, lots of brett, woody, citrus, fruity, peaches, pears, green apples. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter start, wood, tannins, dry, a bit acidic, lemon juice. Aftertaste: bitter, tannins, wood, dry, sourish, nice one.

75cl bottle at Belgian Beergeeks/Brewver summer tasting at Tim's house. Thanks Siegfried. BB 31/12/2025
