Unser Gessner Alt Sumbarcher Dunkel strahlt mit seiner intensiven Mahagonifarbe und rötlichen Reflexen, gepaart mit einer Krone aus kräftigem beigem Schaum, eine klare Eleganz aus. Mit der Nase vernimmt man Düfte von Dörrpflaume und auch etwas Schokoladenlebkuchen. Diese Eleganz in Optik und Aroma wird nur noch überboten von der perfekten Balance zwischen dem vollmundigen, an Schwarzbrotkruste erinnernden, leicht röstigen Malzkörper und einer nur im Hintergrund mitwirkenden Hopfennote. Der samtig-weiche Abgang dieser Spezialität lässt den Bierliebhaber nach dem genüsslichen ersten Schluck mit einer Harmonie aus dezenter schwarzer Johannisbeere, Bratapfel und Lakritz in freudiger Erwartung des nächsten zurück.

Well made dark lager, crips and clean, Feels perhaps a little bit light, but the perfect ferment makes up for it. konsum dresden (3.7 sept 2019) Revised to 3.6, it’s good, not great

Swing top bottle. Dark brown color. Bready caramelly aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Malty sweetish bready caramelly dusty flavor with pear drups. Slightly disappointing.

Black colour with ruby reflexes, rocky head that disappears after a while. Initially aroma is overwhelming iron. After warming up roasted, nuts, a bit of alcohol. Light sweetness. Too high carbonation, empty mouthfeel. Would be bad even without this outrageous iron aroma.

"Gessner Alt Sumbarcher Dunkel", Flasche von Getränkeland, Werneuchen. - Dunkles Kastanienrotbraun, klar. - In der Nase sehr mildes dunkles Malz, leicht limonadige Süße, schwache Anklänge an Schokolade. - Antrunk mild dunkelmalzig, limonadig süßsäuerlich. Äußerst schwacher, zart krautiger Hopfen. Milder rezent, eher dünn. Im Abgang ein klein wenig Malzbittere und eine matte Andeutung von Hopfenherbe. - Schwaches, flach malziges Dunkles ohne Tiefgang. Belanglos.

0,5 l bottle bought somewhere in southern Saxony. Pours out clear dark red brown with an huge pale beige head. Mid sweet malty smell. Malty caramell taste, increasing malt and toasted to the middle part. Sugar sweetness and also hop in the background. Nice one.

Bottle. Color: Dark reddish brown, dense beige head. Taste: Roasted malt, hints of caramel and chocolate. Soft carbonation. Medium to light body, bit watery and flat taste. Decent beer but not exciting.

Stabiler Schaum, hektische Perligkeit, dunkelbraun. In der Nase klassisch malzig, im Trunk süß, sehr süffig, wenig Malzigkeit für ein Dunkel. Fast schon ein Sommerbier. Mir zu einfach und charakterlos.
