Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours hazy deep mahoganny brown with a thick light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, dark fruit, vanilla, coconut, chocolate, red wine and Xmas spice. The taste is dark fruit, prune, date, red grape, roasted malt, candy, vinous, chocolate, spice, wood, some astringency and alcohol warmth, with a dry, faintly tart finish. Medium to full body and lively carbonation. Decent, but I can’t say I love it.

Bottle shared with onkelgobber. Thanks. Pours a cloudy amber or dark brown. The nose has ginger biscuits, demarara sugar and orange peel. The taste has chocolate orange, then ginger with coriander seeds on the end. The palate has a medium bodied elegant start which builds and builds and then the finish is long and delicious. Overall, lovely and complex doesn’t do justice.

375ml compact, dark green bottle, bought at Ølbutikken in Copenhagen more than a year ago. Lots of small bubbles to a fawn-coloured head that stays well on top of a clear, mahogany coloured body. Hazy, last pour. Smell of earthy malts and mid-tart berries. Vinous taste profile with reminiscences of Madeira. Blend of citric fruits, candy sweetness and chocolate malts. The finish is made up by bittersweet spices. Integrated, warming alcohol. Quite well made and a fine Yuletide sipper on a relaxing evening at home (Tromsø, 28.12.2011).

375ml bottle
Pours dark brown with a medium foamy head. Aroma has notes of berries, red wine, caramel, spices and malts. Taste has quite strong notes of berries and red wine with hints of lingonberry, caramel malts, spices and wood. Finish is a bit sticky and sweet with notes of berries. Quite carbonated and full bodied. Quite nice and the red wine gives it a nice touch.

Süß-malziger, etwas klebriger Antrunk. Nun stärker malzig, wenig herb, eintönig. Fast milder als das Original, die Aromenvielfalt hält sich in Grenzen. Nichts Besonderes. /9/8/10/11/9
