Bottle, 375ml. A clear, very dark reddish brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head. Quite vinous aroma with a berry-like sourness along with dried fruits, some alcohol and chocolate as well as piney hops. Full-bodied, with a good piney bitterness following a vinous, chocolatey flavor combined with sour berries. A nice beer indeed, but I prefer the unbarreled edition. 101229

Thanks to yespr for that one! Bottle looks really good, beer in the glass light brown, zippy, small head. Malty-alcoholic aroma. Starts strong, malty-dry, fruity, a bit burning. Finish a bit sourish, still warming-malty, a bit alcoholic. Very nice!

Bottled@Monks Café Sveavägen, Stockholm. Hazy deep amber colour with a mediumsized beige head. Aroma is spices, rather lots of fruityness, alcohol and some mild berryish notes. Flavour is red grapes, some alcohol, mild berries, rather winous and some slight spicy and yeasty notes. Rather balanced. As it warms up it gets some blueberries in the finish.

Clear dark red brown with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, heavy malty, dried fruit, red wine and vanilla. Flavor is rather sweet and medium bitter. The red wine is too dominant for my liking, but even so this is still a very good beer. 241210

375 ml bottle. Clear amber body with a dense beige head. Aroma of malt, dry fruit, oak, red wine and some vanilla. Flavor is sweet malt, alcohol, oak, bitter, spices and a bit perfumed. Nice but I prefer the non-barrel version this time.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Hazy and opaque orangey brown with a beige head. A lot of vanilla in the nose - and vanilla. Medium body, nuts, sweetish overripe fruit and caramel but it’s the barrel’s woody notes that clearly dominate, plenty of wood with a tart edge. Quite thrilling. 251210

14th December 2010. At the Euston Tap with Harrisoni. This beer has a tough act following the stellar Yulesmith Summer. Dark red - brown beer, a little cloudy. Good frothy tan head. Light minerally nose with traces of red wine. Light semi soft palate, airy with mild carbonation. Light cream in the mouth. A little minerals, mild fruit salad, mild red wine. A little woody. Finishes semi dry. Nice!
