Lombok is many things. It is an Indonesian volcanic island, a multicultural neighborhood in Utrecht and an old name for the common chili pepper. Together with sambal makers Nona Pedis, we’ve combined the many interpretations to make a beer. As a base, we brewed a doppelbock (German for ‘double bock’), a bottom-fermented malty beer, with heavy notes of toffee. Adding chili pepper and toasted coconut, Lombokbok is liquid indulgence with a spicy edge.

Sampled at Cafe Berlijn. Reddish color, white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, a bit sourish, wood, leaves, wet leaves, boozy. Not good. Bleh. Don't like it.

Op tap bij Borefts '22. Moutig, caramel, donker fruit, pepertje duidelijk aanwezig maar mooi geïntegreerd, prima pittige Bock. Kokos haal ik er niet uit.

Tap. Hazy amber color with no head. Aroma is peppery, caramel, don't really get coconut. Taste is the same, here some coconut perhaps if you know it. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Alright.

Sampled @ Borefts Bier Festival 2022. A clear amber beer. Aroma of caramelized malt, grains, some apples. Taste of mid sweet strong caramelized malt, biscuit, spicy bitter hops.

23/IX/22 - on tap @ Borefts Day 1, BB: n/a (2022-1228) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

A little cloudy amber beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty start, grains, hay, cow fodder, a bit oxidized, very metallic, unpleasant. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: a bit spicy, lots of alcohol, bitter, hoppy, some caramel, more hops, rather dry. Aftertaste: alcohol, bitter, spicy, hoppy, dry finish. Peppers? Coconut? Not getting any of that...
