Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Figs & Grain. Pours mostly clear yellow-gold with a fluffy, pure white head. Lightly sweet, somewhat grassy and floral, dry pale malts, citrus peel. Light bodied with active, massaging carbonation. Clean and dry, subtly juicy citrus, faint minerality, straw, dried biscuits. Exceptional.

On tap at The Craft Beer Co - Covent Garden, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out floral hops and citrus upfront, with biscuity malt. Flavour is clean and bitter, with floral, piney hops and crisp biscuity malt. Clean and pleasantly bitter, with everything well-balanced. Solid.

Keg at Mother Arch (7), 25/08/22. Almost clear golden orange with a decent lasting just off white cap. Nose is orange pith, grapefruit, pine nip, grass, soft malts, papaya. Taste comprises bitter orange, grass, melon, light breads, mandarin, citric tinged straw. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close spiked with balanced light juicy come grassy hop bitterness. Tidy pale.

Bottle. Beer Central Sheffield. Unusually dark this. I’ll say medium amber with a light haze. Absolutely beautiful Kernel swede here. Nose is pretty rich and fruity. It’s a definite old school thing going off. There’s caramel and sappy pine. Not what I’d associate with a Kernel pale. Notes of fleshy citrus. Some stone fruit. Taste has a sticky sweetness, with rindy, slightly spicy bitterness. Drinks easy to the tune of 5 minutes. Foamy carbonation. Lingering bitterness to finish. I don’t think this is quite right. The colour is off and it’s nowhere near your normal Kernel experience, which is a rarity, but overall it’s still a fantastic beer.
