Originally a Christmas beer, first brewed in 2006 under the name of St. Nicolas. In its present title Bede's Chalice reflects the influence of the Benedictine monk the Venerable Bede in North-East England during the seventh and eighth centuries.

(Bottle, Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm, 12 July 2011) Golden amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with citrus, dried fruit, apricots and spicy hints of coriander. Fruity, malty taste with notes of citrus, apricots, marmalade, spices and coriander. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Nice one.

30th January 2008
Typical strong English beer. Sweet and sour, some brandyish notes. Very dry finish. Struggled with this one. 2.6

13th January 2015
Hazy deep gold beer, decent pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry and crisp. Sweetish airy malts, light dry milky sweetness. Trace of floral dried fruits. Pinch of spice. Light dry finish. Not the worst tripel I’ve tried.

Bottle. Huge creamy head with excellent duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are hops, caramel, flowers and nice warming alcohol.

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with an orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, grapefruit, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and grapefruit, leading to a dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Mr Lawrence’s Wine Merchants, Brockley. Pours a cloudy orange colour with a white long lasting head. Floral aromas as well as citrus, herbs, heather. Rich citrus flavours with caramel, toffee, barley sugars, sweet spices. Good bitter-sweet warming finish.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange color with a small off-white head. Has a sweetish malty yeasty aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty yeasty spicy flavor with some hoppy hints. Has a sweetish malty yeasty finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours a very cloudy orangey golden with a small off-white head. Sweetish fruity nose with a whiff of citrus. Quite full-bodied, sweetish fruity and somewhat spicy. Fairly bitter finish. 050109

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Acidic and citric hoppy fruity aroma. Dry yeasty and somewhat phenolic. Sweet fruity, yeasty and with a mild metallic touch. Mild fruity hops flavour in addition. Lasting hoppy and fruity finish.

Bottle at home ... Oh an english strong ale... i thougth this very belgian in flavour ... nice crisp copper ... sweet toffee... yeasty fruity berrylike medium bitterness long linger ...not balanced for me... struggling with it.

Cask (gravity) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.Clear medium orange color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, fruity, berry notes, alcohol notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is flat. (070808)
