Flaske 0,5l. Svart. Lavt brunt skum. Oljeaktig konsistens.

Bottle from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. Pours really black with a 3 finger head that is so dark tan it’s nearly brown. Aroma is like bread and fruit. Amazing. And hints of smoke and coffee. Full, smooth body. Flavor is smoke, smoke, some dark malt, coffee, a little chocolate, and some sort of darkish fruit. And smoke. It’s very smooth. Finish is smoke and chocolate. Excellent.

Bottle. Pours black with a deep brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma is full of roasted malt with a relatively strong scotch note. There is also a bit of an earthy undertone. Flavor starts with roasted malts and is joined by a strong scotch note that give off some earthiness. Finish is slightly dry.

Half liter bottle courtesy of Maltzilla (thanks again Diego) pouring deep dark with tall dark mocha head. The aroma is dry malt balls, toffee, chocolate and faint barrel notes. I’m getting virtually no peat or Scotch like notes. The taste is smooth as silk and velvety too and initially brings up notes of mild booziness, peat and a barrel wood sensation. It doesn’t take more than another moment before chocolate, toffee, malt balls and mild vague hop bitterness join in and take this to the finish.

500 mL bottle. Pours black with a nice brown head. Aroma combines Scotch whisky with syrupy chocolate and some fruits. Flavor features more roast and coffee flavors, with the whisky and chocolate remaining just a bit more subdued, but still very much there. Dark fruit comes through with chocolate in the finish. There’s a bit of oxidation setting in as well, but it’s not unpleasant. Very nice.

500ml bottle, batch no.412, from Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. Oily pour building a dense, dark brownish head with lots of dimples and with fine duration. Dark as coal in body colour. Aromatic with dark fruits, roasted malts added by a touch of liquorice. Cocoa malts in flavour, slightly roasted, in harmonious company with dark fruits, blackcurrant and spicy vanilla. Finish off with a solid dark, bitter ending. Lovely (at home in Tromsø, 19.09.2010).
