Bottle from a trade in San Diego - many thanks, Jonathan C.! Vintage 2022. Cloudy black, small, stable, brown head. Intense aroma of maple syrup, burnt pancake, molasses, vanilla bean, clove, chocolate sauce, bourbon, tobacco. Taste has very sweet maple syrup, molasses, pancake and milk chocolate; edge of vanilla, soft coffee roast and even a vague umami element. Earthy hoppy finish offers lots of lingering woody maple, brown sugar, sugared coffee and boozy bourbon alcohol. Full body, thick oily texture, soft carbonation. Intense, sweet and chewy - just lacks some elegance to be a real masterpiece.
