250 ml bottle. Hazy reddish body with floaters and no head at all. Aroma is cherry and wood with funky Bret, not in totally harmony. Flavor is old matured cherry, cherry stones, dust, acid, vinegar and to some degree Madeira. This is for sure an interesting beer, but I’m sad to say that Rodenbach Grand Cru and Duchesse De Bourgogne are among my favorites and this beer isn’t exactly in this league. This has simly not the same balance and harmony.

Bottle. It pours almost as headless as the cross Black Sabbath told us about, just a tiny rim of beige bubbles. The body is unclear, and reddish brown in color. The aroma is of the complex type, with tart cherries, balsamic vinegar and alcohol the most dominant, followed by vanilla, sugary notes, marzipan and some potent red wine. As it warms up a bit, there’s a pleasant touch of oxidation to be found as well. The flavor follows the same path as the aroma, with lots of mouth puckering tart cherries and acids, still with a sort of balancing sweetness. The mouthfeel can be compared to that of a red wine, maybe a bit thinner, and quite velvety. Vanilla notes, alcohol, berries and marcipan. The finish is quite lemony sour and tart, with wood and cherries coming after a while. And in the very end, some alcohol fires up and warms the mouth and throat. Yet another masterpiece from CSA. 090922

250ml bottle bought at Barley Wine in Copenhagen, airborne back home to Tromsø and shared with Finn during a Midsummer fest. Opaque dark red (rather unidentified) body topped by a ring of bubbles. Mild aroma of tart berries. Rounded and smooth taste of cherries. The sourness is kept under control and not overdone. Some refreshments (23.06.2009).

Kanskje litt kjedelig. KI=1
