[bottle, vintage 2005, #13295] Hazy, amber colour with a thick and slightly beige foamy head. Moderately sweet toast-malty aroma with caramel, licorice and vinous fruity notes of dark berries, plums and raisins. Sweet flavour, full bodied. Rich toast-malty taste with caramel, licorice, vanilla and almondy nutty notes. Medium-dry, vinous-fruity and lasting toasty finish with an assertive Armagnac-like aftertaste. Great stuff [22.XII.08].

Bottle. Amber coloured, a bit unclear, stable, firm beige head. Almonds, vanilla, dried fruits in the vinous-alcoholic nose. Full sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied. Raisins, porto and plenty of fruits in the solid sweet-bitter flavour. Superb, complex and well rounded stuff......

Bottle #76697 from Market Street Wine Shop Downtown. Slightly hazy copper pour w/ large head and great lacing. A fine looking beer! Aroma is strong green apple jolly rancher with solvent alcohol notes. As horrible as the sounds, it wasn’t really. Taste of green apple, honey, citrus. Thick mouthfeel.

Bottle, Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington, London. Bottle. Deep reddy tinged amber colour, with a creamyish off white head. Aroma had spices, cloves, hops, malt and a honeyish caramel. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Full bodied flavour, had a big dose of caramel sweetness, dark fruit n ’ nut, spices. Alcohol was pretty prominent and this tasted all of the 8.5%. Lacks any real subtlety but is still quite enjoyable.

My 100th rating. Special thanks to ilovedarkbeer for bottle #50165. Served at cellar temps. Aroma is light bready malts, light orange hops, and light doughy yeast. as well as red wine, raisin, raspberry, and ginger. Pours a hazy toasted amber-brown. Taste is of dates and is nearly a Madeira/Brandy mix. It is very rich and savory. Goes down creamy and slightly fizzy with a strongish alcohol warming on the end. Great beer to cap of the dash to 100.
Re-described in Feb. 2009: bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Aging extremely fast. Caramel notes with a bit of oxidation. The beer smells and tastes exactly like Fig Newtons. Interesting development...Would rate a 3.8 now.

500ml bottle @ RBNAG’07. Clear reddish orange body with a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty, dry fruit, caramel and alcohol. Flavor is the same as aroma with a hint of liquorices in addition. Complex and nice, maybe just a bit on the sweet side for me.
