(Bottle 50 cl) # 06765. Pours a hazy, dark amber golden with a dense, off-white head. Rather spicy nose - sorta Christmas spices? Nice and full body with sweetish caramel notes but also a herbal astringency - almost like cough syrup. And then some interesting, leathery Orval accents. Rather warming alcohol in the finish also containing some bitterness. Very interesting. 030807

Bottle No 43761; Nose of sweet fruity malts and spices; copper colored with a medium straw colored head; flavor is sweet, spicy plums, with some alcohol and some bitterness and alcohol in the finish. My second Fullers; I had the 2006 and have a 2004 waiting in the wings!

Bottle: Poured a deep brown ruby color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet malt with some subtle dry figs and plums notes. Taste is mostly dominated by sweet malt with some great dry fruits characteristics. The ending was slightly dry with light hops noticeable. Body was quite full and carbonation was medium with no alcohol being discernable. I really love the way English brewers are able to handle malt and I believe this was a good example.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 14 Dec) Dark amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy off-white head. Fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, apricots, prunes, raisins, red-currant, rowan-berries and spicy hops. Fruity taste with dried fruit, apricots, caramel, blood oranges and rather heavy notes of earthy/floral hops in a long, warming, slightly vinous, finish. Full-bodied, rather sweet, very hoppy, very warming and in perfect balance. Absolutely lovely.

2011-10-16, bottle n. 35533, 6 years old, 6-5-7-3-14=35
Beautiful color, dark amber, with small sized creamy head, persistent. Mild aroma of malt and caramel. Good body strength; the mouthfeel is sufficiently round; mediocre malt and caramel flavor; the bitterness is fading, therefore the light sweetness appears more evident. There is a vague scent and flavor of vegetables, and very light liquorice in the final. Easy, uncomplex beer, but correctly brewed, and at least it doesn’t show signs of age.

2006-03-13, cask conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 5-4-6-3-12=30
Beautiful dark amber color; thin creamy head. I had a bottles 1998 a few hours ago, this doesn’t match it; it’s a strong and warming brew, with an apple touch, malty and sweet, but far below expectations. I will wait some time before opening the bottle of this Vintage.
