This is one of those beers that we’re really excited about, not only because it’s our first international collaboration, but also because it’s an interpretation of a very typical Portuguese and Dutch dessert. We’ve joined forces with our good friends and beer engineers from Moersleutel and recreate a classic from our grandmother’s house. Drunken Pears is a shared classic from our cuisines, one of those comfort foods perfect for a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. It all starts with a base of Berliner Weisse to which we’ve added tons of pear and mixed with red wine infused with cinnamon and star anise. This is more than a beer, it’s an experience of flavors and a trip to our roots. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Can at home. Weird purple pour with no head, not the most inviting looking beer I’ve had for sure. Nose and taste are pear, grapes, anise and cinnamon, exactly as promised. Thick, chewy, literal smoothie. Not the usual smoothie flavour profile, which is respectable, definitely a fun one.

Can at BiervanEijk, Frederiksoord. Thick pear puree with cinnamon, sugar, star anise. Sweet and somewhat tart. Massively thick, pure fruit juice/puree. Hard to rate, it's nothing like beer but it's kinda fun...

Can. Murky purple-ish color with white head. Aroma is big cinnamon, anise, sangria. Taste is the same, christmasy, cardamom pears. Thicc mouthfeel. Not bad honestly.

Can sample at a tasting at Yoav's place. Pink color, smoothie-like. Pears, wine, alcohol, cinnamon, more spices, sweet, alcohol. Not my thing.

44cl Blik, dank (?) Joost! Tja, wat moet je hier nou van vinden..? Ziet er werkelijk niet uit, een soort vies lichtpaars gekleurd smurfensnot, geen kraag, paar belletjes erin. Het smoothie gehalte is zeer hoog, gezien de sporen die het achterlaat in het glas. Geur en smaak zijn, eerlijk is eerlijk, echt wel lekker, stoofperen, hint van steranijs, kaneel, glühwein, heel licht zuurtje. Extreem dik mondgevoel, wat het een uiterst 'interessante' proefervaring geeft. Lachwekkend dat dit nog bier mag heten.

Can. Murky dull purple. Pureed pears. Wine, spices, pears, cloves, allspice, cinnamon. This is just pureed pears. Very thick creamy body. Hahahaha.

Can at nicks. Pours murky pinkish, nose is huge aniseed, some cinnamon, taste is sweet, creamy, cinnamon, pear, apple.

440 ml can. Pours a dark pinkish white slurry with short thick head. Aromas of fruit pie, cinnamon, whipped cream and thick wheaty malts. Flavors of thick creamy raspberry/strawberry pastry and ice cream. This is really a fruit smoothie with a bit of spice and alcohol. On final pour it’s more like ice cream and really thick pink foam. Interesting and odd.

This beer is not a beer. It’s awful, it’s not even a liquid. It’s a slush, water with floating junk, even stuck in my teeth. Wtf guys. Moersleutel adventkal 2022
