While sultry summer weather calls for a crisp, light IPA, the colder climes of winter call for a full-bodied beer. In this regard, Winter Ride Double Bock is aptly named.
Winter Ride is rich, dark, and merrily malty. It’s made for us by a West Coast craft brewery that has an affinity for traditional fermentation techniques. They combine Bavarian Hallertau hops (yielding 28 IBU) with Munich and Caramel malts to provide a sweet, nutty, dark-roasted flavor and smooth, crisp finish.
The heft of this delicious Double Bock means it pairs especially well with big, intense flavors. Try sipping it alongside our Double-Crème Brie with Truffles and our Spicy Charcuterie Selection, or even with a hearty cut of our Uncured Bacon Wrapped Porchetta Pork Roast.
Just make sure you head to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s beer section to grab this limited-run Winter Ride Double Bock before winter comes to an end.

Beautiful appearance of clear chestnut colour and approx one and a half inch of creamy beige-ish ecru head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of dried cherry, prune, some chocolate, floral, roasted nutty and rye bready notes; taste is the exact same; I like it very much

Notes from Dec 15, 2013 $1.09 for a single from TJs. Damn inflation. BB: 3/15/14 Rounded pint glass. Crystal clear garnet/tea-ish body. Fluffy, light tan head. Smells of buttery caramel corn & charred bread. Sticky spilled beer & booze. Aspirin bitterness is the first & last thing you taste. Sweet-ish brown bread middle. Burnt nuts. Dry, pithy/popsicle stick finish. Starchy. Boozy. So-so carbonation. Cold. Cold is sometimes enough.

Pour is a clear dark amber with a large tan head. Aroma is sweet molasses with dark fruit. Flavor is sweet dark sugar, toffee and a sugar covered dark plum. Finish is dark fruit all over the place. Very tasty but sweet and I think this can cost all of a $1 at Trader Joe's.

12 ounce can from Trader Joe’s in Princeton, NJ. Rich orange copper color. Large, pillowy tan head. Mild toasted malt aroma. Nice caramel malt flavor upfront is balanced by a dose of spicy hops. A hint of toasted nuts and black pepper. Smooth and drinkable.

A 12 oz bottle that came to me by way of Joe's in Ft. Worth. End of a session, let us see how Winter Ride stacks up in a style I like but don't love. The pour is a dark, shiny mahogany with a persistent, light tan skim. I lift for a smell. Very grainy. The taste is an improvement, not really in my sweet spot altogether. A bit of cane sweetness, dark bread, spice and earth. Tolerable.

Bottle from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours dark mahogany with a slight beige head. Aroma is lightly roasty/nutty malt with grass and something else. Med body. Flavor rather matches the aroma, but the carbonation is a bit prickly. Not very sweet, not very bitter. Pretty good flavor tho.
