While sultry summer weather calls for a crisp, light IPA, the colder climes of winter call for a full-bodied beer. In this regard, Winter Ride Double Bock is aptly named.
Winter Ride is rich, dark, and merrily malty. It’s made for us by a West Coast craft brewery that has an affinity for traditional fermentation techniques. They combine Bavarian Hallertau hops (yielding 28 IBU) with Munich and Caramel malts to provide a sweet, nutty, dark-roasted flavor and smooth, crisp finish.
The heft of this delicious Double Bock means it pairs especially well with big, intense flavors. Try sipping it alongside our Double-Crème Brie with Truffles and our Spicy Charcuterie Selection, or even with a hearty cut of our Uncured Bacon Wrapped Porchetta Pork Roast.
Just make sure you head to your neighborhood Trader Joe’s beer section to grab this limited-run Winter Ride Double Bock before winter comes to an end.

Bottle from Trader Joe's Bedford. Pours a brilliantly clear deep auburn color with a tightly bubbled off white head that dissipates quickly. Spicy aroma more of a winter warmer than dopplebock. Fake caramel sweetness. Astringent bitterness.

23rd Dec 2017. 12 oz bottle (labelled Winter Brew) into a large Lowenbrau (Munchen) tulip glass. Mahogany body, clean and clear, the head a lightly tanned blanket of foam. Very malty nose and taste, semi-sweet with a bitter underbelly. Body depth a little thin, but that can be a 'side affect' of this style if the alcohol level is below 8% ABV as it's Lager based really.

12 oz. bottle thanks to jcwattsrugger. Color is a dark mahogany with a thin white head. Aroma is raisins, dark bread, chocolate, and yeast.
Flavor shows toffee, toasted dark bread, and dark fruits. Some cola hints with chocolatey finish. Also have a mild bitterness for balance. Good body, smooth carbonation. Honestly, much better than I anticipated.

Clear dark Amber - nose of highly caramelized sugars, raisins, cookie dough, rum balls - sugars in the flavor are overly caramelized/burnt, but not terribly so, I guess - slight bitterness - raisin, cookie dough - alcohol comes on strong in the finish - overall not that good, but drinkable.

Some roast malt and lots of caramel. Pours black with ok head. Not bad considering the brewer. Light sweet finish. Bottle.

This one is labeled Winterbrew, but is still a doppelbock. Nice roast grain flavor with a touch of coffee bitterness. Nut brown with creamy beige head. Aroma of burnt toast, nuts, dark bread. Not too bad
