01/08/2010 - 75cl bottle @ De Heeren van Liedekercke

Pours a cloudy dark brown beer, fine off-white head, non-adhesive. Smells like moccha, coffee, caramel. Mouthfeeling is full and creamy. Taste is only a little sweet with caramel and some spices. A little milk sour, not too much. Aftertaste is refreshing sour with very well balanced roasted malts. Surprisingly a very nice brew to me, as I don't like the porters and stouts of this world.

19/04/2011 33cl bottle @ Waregemse Bier Fanaten - BB: 4/2011

Very dark brown beer, beige creamy head, diminishes to a small layer, adhesive. Aroma: sweet caramel, spices, a bit of wood, dried fruits. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet caramel first, then mocha, a little tart touch, red fruits. Aftertaste: more mocha and hop bitters, more of that tart touch, bit of wood, almost vinous.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, citrusy hops, and some caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, straw, and a bit of dusty hops, leading to a dry woody finish.

Bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with a foamy beige/tan head. Rather roasted aroma. Medium body. Flavor is roast caramel with notes of nuts and chocolate or coffee. Finishes dry with lingering bitter. With a little nut flavored oil on the tongue. Not to die for, but nice.

Draught Muddy brown with orange sheen; nearly no head. Very nutty nose, some liquorice and dried herbs, tad of chocolate. Spicy hops, dry overall and some vegetable flavourhints. Yeast-intoned, but the sample might be at fault. Medium bodied at least, sample VERY yeasty. I’m unsure. Now here’s one I need to try again.
