hmm. This one is fruity, piney, and very malty. It’s sweet and boozy. For me it crosses into cough syrupy territory a bit, which isn’t good. It’s not bad. I just expected better.

16 oz. can thanks to tfontana. Thanks for the opportunity! The aroma is shows me Apricot, herb and slight malt. In the flavor the mosaic hop seem to rule. A really strong amount of herb and pine like hints. The Nelson is almost totally hidden here. Also a bit more malty then I prefer.

Can (049 2 on bottom of can—4/9/22?) pour from Total Wine & More, Brentwood. It’s a lightly hazy gold with nice sparkle, 2-finger width off-white head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is lemon, grape and mild pineapple. Taste is strong pineapple, lighter citrus and mild white grape. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with smooth texture soft carbonation and crisp finish as taste with light bitterness. Overall, decent strength and complexity but these hops can produce something stronger. Date code (if interpretation is accurate—didn’t occur to me until just now) may mean serious hop decay so likely even better fresher.

Great. Misread the canning date and I’ve ended up with a well-aged imperial NEIPA. You know what, though? For a hazy beer canned in July, this can of Puffel ain’t terrible. Yet, the malts and yeast have an aged quality, but they give an apple-laced sweetness to the pint, while the citrus from the hops has gone from juicy to complementary. A slight vegetal note makes me think fresh Puffel might be overhopped, but it isn’t a dealbreaker here. Do I want an old IPA? No. Will I drink this Puffel? Why not.
