A hearty Russian Imperial Stout, deep black in color with a strongly roasted malt aroma, hints of chocolate, coffee and vanilla are prominent in this beers flavor. Motor Oil is one of our 4 beers from our core range and can be labeled our flagship stout.

44 cl can. Pitch black with a few tanned bubbles on top. Sweet aroma with brown cookies, liquorice, ash, ripe red berries, and a hint of booze. Herbal hoppy notes. The taste is bitter roasted. Full body. Drying roasted bitter finish with lingering dark malts. Excellent, straightforward Imperial Stout without any absurd adjuncts.

Keg at BD Inverurie. It pours oily opaque black with a thick, sturdy dark brown head. The aroma is dark roasted malt, bitter - sweet, espresso coffee, dark chocolate, some umami and slightly ashy. The taste is dry roasted malt, pretty bitter, charred, umami, some tannin, liquorice, loads of chocolate, gateaux, sticky, slick, oily, chewy, toasted sesame seeds, liquorice allsorts, espresso, dark chocolate covered coffee beans and a healthy dose of warming booze through a roasty, sticky finish. Fulsome body, moderate sense carbonation and slick mouth feel. Rich and decadent. Strikes a pretty decent balance considering!

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 30A: vanilla, chocolate, coffee / 20C). Can 44 cl - Batch 491 (BB: 11/10/2024 - Canned: 11/10/2022). AROMA: medium-high cocoa aroma with a low vanilla background dominates. medium-low vinous alcohol notes with a low metallic background character that fades with time. APPEARANCE: very dark brown to black color and opaque. medium-low light brown head, creamy, with average retention. TASTE: medium-high cocoa flavour dominates, followed by low vanilla. medium bitterness with a semi-dry and slightly roasty finish. MOUTHFEEL: full body and velvety. medium-low carbonation. alcoholic warmth that evolves into a hot sensation as the tasting progresses. OVERALL: an imperial stout a bit unbalanced towards chocolate, overpowering everything else.

Can @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable tan head. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with notes of dried fruit. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of marshmallow and touches of yeast, malt and fruit. Roasty aftertaste with estery and fruity touches. A nice one. Combustible and good to drive mentally on and on, on the day I was fired.
