Pours ruby red without much head. There’s quite a lot of carbonation in this beer nonetheless. Taste has a lot of bittersweet characteristics. Citrus peel marmalade, Caramel malt. It’s good, but nothing like the Old Viscosity I had last night.

Purchased this dark brown glass 750ml bottle at the LCBO. Pours a clean darker amber colour with a big fizzy, light-beige head that dissipates quickly into some foam and lacing is minimal. Aromas of dark fruits (plums, dates) with some caramel malts, warming alcohol and hints of nuts. Smooth mouthfeel with no burning, light warmth, but really nice for 9% ABV. Nice bitterness in the taste, where the hop shows more, bringing a little dryness, but not too much. Notes of roasted and burnt malts with the fruits taking a step back with the nuts. Another beautiful experiment from this great brewery.

Aroma has nuts and some bready malt and wet wood. Flavour is sweet with lots of malt, some woody notes and nuts. A doppelbock with smoothness from ale. Too sweet and malty for me.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a dark reddish amber with about a finger of off-white head. Aroma is mostly caramel and bready malt. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Caramel and bready malt with some pine and citrus. Medium bodied with a somewhat sticky texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, pretty darn good. I would gladly drink this again.

Sober aromas; a bit of caramel and a touch of chocolate. Average light brown head lasting moderately. Nice clear copper color. Caramel is the main flavor with slight orange accent. High degree of alcool is giving whiskey notes. Malt notes are fine and delicate but are lasting moderately. Mouthfeel is round and a bit spakling. Pleasant to drink but I was expecting more from this beer. This is my first tasting from Rogue and I have to say that it is a bit under their reputation. Although it is a very good beer, I was expecting an exceptionel beer. Meilleure chance pour la prochaine.

Pours hazy copper with a fading head.Nose shows copious amounts of malt; lots of caramel, toffee and some nutty notes. There’s also some spicy and resinous hops.Similarly malty flavours, with big bready characters and toffee, before the spicy, piny hops and hot alcohol rampage through. Pretty agressive, sharp and almost solvent/petrol-like.Carbonation is a little full on.

Malty nose, briny, hay and celery. Hazy copper, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Full body, only slightly boozy. Hay, caramel, toffee flavor, with hints of wood, particularly in the end. Rustic and decidedly not fruity. This is the way a high gravity beer should be done. It’s obviously big, but it isn’t a chore. It’s a tad on the sweet side for my taste, but this should appeal to a lot of people.
