Fat Tire's unique flavor profile originates from 1930s Belgium. During this era, small breweries began offering easy-drinking beer crafted with signature Belgian yeast in order to satisfy the tastes of visiting British soldiers. Today, Fat Tire blends a subtle malt presence with a slightly fruity hop profile and crisp finish, to create a bright and balanced beer that drinks easy, anywhere.

Poured from the tap. Clear gold with small white head. Sweet and estery, no yeast profile, no depth.

Hazy and pale. Thin head. Aroma is a touch plasticy, light esters, too. Light body -but on the empty side, drinking water filtered through barley husks there isn't shit left. A bold call transforming a brand that size, but for the beer it smells better. On the palate whatever.

Can. Deep gold with a fast fading white head. Sweet doughy aroma with some apricot and hints of spices. So it tastes. Sweet but kind of empty with very modest bitterness. I don’t understand.

Yeast, lemon, biscuit malt, and straw aroma. Golden yellow with large off-white head. Orange, apple, biscuit malt, and very mildly bitter straw flavor. Okay body. Decent but not sure why they felt the need to replace the original - should have just made Fat Tire Blonde .

Pour is a clear bronze with a large white head. Aroma is a slight toasted malt. Flavor is more of a toasted malt and a large bitterness on the back end. It's been a long time since I've had a OG Fat Tire but I remember it being more of a heavier amber ale. This is more like a golden ale. It's ok but forgettable.

12 ounce can from Festival Northland, 3/20/23. I can tell this is the new one. It says “high quality” and “low impact” on the can. Also, it doesn’t smell like fried chicken. The original always smelled like that to me for some reason. This one smells like corn, cereal grains, sugar. Taste is corn, grain, cereal, plum. Clear gold, medium tan head, average retention. It’s fine, but not what is used to be for sure. 20.7k!

Pours clear, deep gold with a one finger white head. It has a mild grainy, bready malt aroma. The flavor is similar along with some mild hop bitterness. It’s light bodied and crisp. This bottle was quite fresh and I was thirsty after a run, so as an easy drinking light bodied brew, it really had every chance to be good, and it’s alright, pretty tasty for what it is. It’s still a lousy decision for the company to slap the name of their flagship beer for over thirty years on a different product. I was never a big Fat Tire drinker, but it obviously had its fans and that tradition should matter.
