Bottle @ home. Brown color. Malt, maple syrup and a hint of raspberry in the aroma. Full bodied, thick and sticky mouthfeel. Sugary sweet flavor with pineapple and peach. Nice to drink but lacks depth because of the overwhelming sweetness.

Brown colour, no real head. Aroma of wood, berries, red fruit. Light sour flavour, malts, berries. Finish red fruit, sour notes. Not your typical Dubbel, and my first beer by Gaverhopke, it turns out.
(from 33cL bottle @ weekly tasting, Oirschot. Thanks for sharing, Benzai!)

The brown beer from the original Gaverhopke (under Eric Ameye). Loose, off-white, unstable head, deep cloudy bronze colour. Aroma like the Twaalf (also in its original form, that is), but hoppier and less alcoholic, with burnt rubber and rotten egg ruining everything. Less sweet and thinner palate than the Twaalf (dito) with stronger carbo; caramelly with some floral hops in the finish, but far too little to balance out the sweetness. Clearly this and the Twaalf were inspired by Westvleteren 8 and 12, but in terms of quality the difference could hardly be more painful.

Cloudy brown beer with purple glare. Off-white crackling head, falls back to a few mm of creamy light beige foam. Aroma: tart apples, green apple skin, a bit fruity, some spices (pepper, ginger). MF: good carbon, light to medium body. Taste: sour apples (pretty predictable from the smell), lemony, a bit of caramel, slightly sweet touch, some lactobacillus. Aftertaste: turning pretty tart, lemony, but also some wood tones and some hop or bitter spices. On warming up, chocolate and tangerine is also detected. Well, apparently the infections of the beer are their "style", and in this beer it works (sort of) but I'm still uncertain whether to like it or not.

Dark brown with a tall, fine, pillowy head. Dry aroma of dark fruits, light caramel, and a slightly sour tang. Inviting and original. There is also something almost tropical in the nose! Tangy, fruity flavor with caramel and chocolate, blueberry. Rather sour, verging slightly on an old bruin. Dry, clean and very tasty. Love it.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark amber colour with a big and beige frothy head. Sweet and moderately sour, also slightly dusty toast-malty aroma with notes of citrus, red berries and shy notes of caramel. Moderately sweet and sour flavour, medium bodied with a surprisingly soft carbonation. Cara-malty, slightly sour-doughy and fruity taste with a slightly sweet and sourish fruity finish. Cannot say if the acidic character is intended. 14.III.10

29th September 2008. Cloudy brown beer. Sweet start - brief sour malt and then a wheaty spicyness and a dry finish. Nicely joined up.

Dark brown with a beige head. Dark fruits, light sugar, sweet caramel malts in the aroma and flavor. Decent, but forgettable.

bottle, pours a deep red with a thin brown layer riding next to the foam, tall light tan head, laces well. Sweet and spicey aroma with all spice, nutmeg, and carmel malt, some yeast and a hint of alcohol. Creamy texture brings a slightly sweet doughy malt with some roasted notes. There is a definate strong spice going on, more of a hot cinnamon, but it’s felt more riding the alcohol in the finish. Solid.
