This is one of Hilden Brewing Co's lighter beers. A light and crisp tasting pale beer with a pleasant and distinct hop character lingering at the end. Uses Saaz and Hersbrucker hops from the Czech Republic and Germany.

500 ml bottle, as Hilden Belfast Blonde, from Tesco Express, Belfast. ABV 4.3%. Golden colour, small white head. Again a meaty aroma with notes of stale broth, also hints of sewage. Is there something wrong with the water in Northern Ireland? The flavour is slightly better, but fairly bland and unexciting. Not a noteworthy presence of the Saaz and Hersbrücker hops.

Pale ale muy ligera, dorada brillante y con muy escasa espuma. Aroma ligeramente lupulada. Muy bebible, poco cuerpo, pero agradable con un toque final lupulado.

Bottle at home in Northern Ireland. Light yellow straw coloured pour with a loose fleeting white head. Aroma is mineral, initially some grassy lemon hop and straw. Later some soapy aromas develop. Flavour is light straw, mineral. Solid earthy bitterness. Palate is light and somewhat chalky.

500ml bottle Golden in the glass, smooth Ale-typical nose. The beer starts smooth, but a bit watery. Refreshing with hints of sweetness. The mainpart is highly drinkable, smooth, Ale-typical and still watery. The aftertaste is medium, a bit metallic, watery with hints of malt and not much bitterness.

500ml bottle from Beers of Europe, as Hilden Belfast Blonde. Pours clear golden yellow, with a quickly dissipating head. Aromas of butterscotch and lemon pledge. Taste is more of the same, moving towards caramel sweetness at the end. Dull.

Bottle from Dunnes Stores, Longford [090212]
Blonde, clear, thick frothy white head
Aroma - soft pale malts, light spicy hop, slight butter biscuit, hint of hay
Taste - light hops, soft spicy lager hops, bit grassy, light sweet pale malts, rather bland
Palate - soft carb, light body, bit oily. Finish - some soft cereal, light hay
Overall - Blonde lager-like beer. Dull. Certainly wasn’t moreish to me. Perhaps the keg is better - will rate if I see it

Bottle at parents house - 26/08/12. Pours clear blonde with a thin off-white head. Pale malts, grani and a little wheat on the nose and a slightly cheesey waft at the end. Tastes of grain, wheat and with a sweetish malt profile leading to a slightly bitter finish. Medium bodied with a higher level of carbontation than would be appropriate for this style. Drinkable but on the bland side.
