Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Paul. Vintage 2008. Pours lightly unclear amber-gold with a bubbly, tan head. The nose has old fruits, slight Parmesan cheese, jammy fruits. Big sweet flavor, lots more jammy fruits, gummies, caramel, fruitcake. Full bodied with fine, spritzy carbonation. Warm finish with further gummie fruit candies, caramel. Rich, sugary, a bit boozy. Pretty damn hefty but I do enjoy it.

Small slightly fizzy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly metallic fruity, well oxidized, caramel malts, toffee, butterscotch, metal tank, dried fruits, "knekk", grass, almond essence. Taste is very sweet and medical harsh, sugar, hay, citrus peel, almond essence, butterscotch, grass, cardboard, alcohol, "knekk". Medium bitterness, sweet harsh mouthfeel. Meh!

Bottle from Bu11zeye. Pours hazy dark amber with no head. Aroma of dark sugar and dark plummy fruit. Med + body. Heat barely discernible. Flavor is brown sugar, dark fruit, perhaps earthy hop. Finishes pleasantly, but much less than dry.

On tap @ the brewpub. Pours slightly hazy ruby amber with small off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, caramel and booze. Sweet, malty flavour with pronounced notes of caramel, sugar and alcohol (rather warming). Sweet aftertaste. A good barley wine, though you shouldn’t drink it before listening to your favourite lullaby.

More like a Belgian strong dark than a barley wine. Dark fruit, raisins and prunes. Cloudy brown pour with no head or lacing. Aroma also has booze but no as much as 12.5 per cent should leave, and caramelized malt. Finishes sweet with a little bitterness. Low carbonation. Some tang in finish. Bottle on sale at volos.

2008 vintage pours deep reddish hues. No head. Loads of dark fruits on the nose. Plums and raisins. Some peach. Tastebuds very sweet. Very fruity. Intense but booze is well balanced. Candied sugar. It's good!

Fra fat på Nørrebro Bryghus: en fantastisk barley wine med noter av svisker og rosiner, smaksrik som en god portvin. Lang ettersmak med antydning av mandler/grov marsipan. . Behagelig humlet med Cascade. En sann nytelse og perfekt til desserten etter bryghusets burger og ipa. Tilføyelse: 0,6 flaske til kr.70 på Blaagaard, passer godt til jam session!

Flaske 0,4l fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Drukket hjemme 14 Aug 12. Dyp rubinrød. Lavt, litt farget skum. Sterk og god sherryaroma. Litt søt. Fløyelsmyk munnfølelse. Smaken er (over)moden frukt + mandler. Ettersmaken er syrlig frukt. Varer lenge. En utmerket drikk - men vel så mye sherry som øl. KI=7
