(Bottle, 2006 vintage, on 2008-09-03) Deep amber colour. Hazy. Very small quickly disappeared head. Hops, alcohol and malts in nose. Full palate slightly oily palate with little alcohol. Caramell, raisin, alcohol, Finnish easter pudding, dadel, hops and bitterness in taste. Very nice barley wine.

Bottled (2006 vintage, bought from Alko). Ambery red colour, small beige head. Aroma is alcohol, some caramel malts and chocolate cookies, some mild fruity hops as well as plum and raisins. Also some sweet wood. Flavour is very much raisins, plum, alcohol and caramel malts in an excellent balance. As it warms up it also becomes quite wooden, mildly syrupy as well as vanillaish. Also some toffeeish/fudgeish notes with nuttyness growing towards the finish. Aftertaste is nuts, raisins, some alcohol, wood and vanilla in a really nice mixture. Really soft and smooth to drink. Brutally good.

Pours deep amber into a snifter. Sickly off-white head recedes to pockmark surface. Rum soaked raisin and dried fruit aromas. Sweet and alcoholic with a lasting prune finish. Definitely not worth the price tag.

Red copper with a medium lasting, off-white head. Malt, hops and port in the aroma. Sweet with a bitter kick, some tobacco an hop flavour. Wonderfully rough barley wine.
Ten years old. 2005 bottle in January 2016. Carbonation is gone and so is the hoppy roughness. A lot of port wine, dried fruit and caramel. Still very good.

Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, copper body, and a minimal beige head, rapidly diminishing. Alcohol, sweetness, dried fruits and port on the nose. Alcohol, sweetness, dried fruits, caramel and some oxidation in the flavor. Really nice it is. Full body and a quite hoppy finish with a lot of warming alcohol. It was the 2004 vintage, but the oxidized flavor surprised me. All in all it is a nice beer, but almost too heavy. (070512)

Handbottle (12 19 06) from Papsoe; Nose of plums, caramel, and an alcohol note (not suprising at 12.25%); rusty copper with a tiny offwhite head; flavor is caramel, dark fruit, and spiciness from a medium body with an alcohol finish. My first Danish Barleywine!

(Draught at Nörrebro Bryghus, Copenhagen, 17 May 2007) Dark amber/ruby colour with firm off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with malty notes of fodder, hints of blood oranges, chocolate and pistachio-nuts. Malty, fruity and spicy taste with notes of blood oranges, chocolate and nuts. Bittersweet finish with spicy hops. Full bodied and slightly vinous, but alcohol not too evident. Very tasty and nice. 7/3/7/4/14=3.5 Rerate: (Bottle. 2008 vintage. 9 March 2013) Hazy reddish amber colour with brief, foamy, off-white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of caramel, red fruit, marzipan, plums and vinous hints of alcohol. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried fruit, marzipan, red berries, prunes, orange peel, a touch of chocolate and a vinous, warming finish with a certain alcohol bite. Full body, fairly sweet, with a slightly spicy bitterness. Very nice.
