Bottle picked up directly from the Brewery, Denmark Sept 2008 Pours black and oily with only the merest hint of light turning the edges to a brown colour. The aroma is oily hops and a little tar like but with a little sweetness also. I note that there are amarillo, centennial, chinook and cascade in here well that’s the only bit of the label that I can read, but it was very clear from first whiff that Americn hops were trying to burst out of this beer. The hops cut through the molassess and roasted malts and even the liqourice flavours which do show are slapped back down by the mighty hops. The bitterness is ever present and roasty flavours cling stalacmites to the roof of your mouth.Very nice.

Bottled at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Very black, minimal beige head. Aroma of licorice and coffee. Sweet and full bodied. Very powerful with asphalt, loads of sugar and heavily warming alcohol. A beer for sipping. Think of a chocolate liqueur mixed with tar.

Bottle. Beer #3000. Celebrating myself and Raasted. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Back colour. Heavy malty and very hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter roasted flavor. Chocolate notes. Heavy bitter long finish. Cramy palate. Great beer.

Bottle 25cl.Clear dark black color with a average, frothy, good lancing, mostly diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, dark chocolate, moderate roasted, burnt, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Bitternes is malt. Body is medium to full, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft. (160508)

Bottle at Århus Ølfestival. Pours a lovely black body under a medium sized tan head. Very hopped nose, with grapefruit and pine, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and some alcohol. Sweetish roasted flavor with chocolate, lots of citrusy, grassy hops and a lovely bitterness, both coffee-bitterness and hop-bitterness. Lasting finish with sweetness and coffee. Full-bodied, quite sweet. A beauty with a lot of both the hops and the darkness. (080516)

Black, headless, flat, a bit oily. The dark malt aroma has a spicy and earthy character, the oxidisation is limited. Moderately sweet, the sweetness is in balance with the alcohol; nice dark chocolate notes, a bit salty, a bit of liquorice, light leather, the oxidisation is not too much. Getting old, but still good.

Pitch black color; brown creamy head, with low retention; apparently filtered. Mild aroma: estery yeast, chocolate, roasted malt, aged Alpine cheese rind. Good body strength, round and full mouthfeel; strong chocolate flavor, caramel, moderate residual sweetness, some roasted malts (more evident later); strong bitterness and pleasant alcoholic warming component.
It aged very graciously, still an excellent beer.

Burning beer, but with a very good and complex mix of caramel, chocolate and hops; some sweet liquorice too at the end; the aroma is somehow milky and cheesy too.

Århus2008. From tap. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Hoppy and roasted malt aroma. Flavour is roasted malt and sweet chocolate, mild roasted caramel malt. Ends with with a light hoppy note towards solid bitter and mild roasted far finish. Solid chocolate finish. Slightly overempowering.
