It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.

A reddish brown beer with a quite big and blond head. The nose has fruits, green apples, lether and earthyness, some bananas ja white wine, swetness of fruits. Complex and pleasant aroma. Taste is fruitful, or almost overcooked fruitful, sourness with quite strong sweetness, some grapes, herbal bitterness in the end. Medium+ bodied, high and sparkling carbonation. Interesting and challenging beer, quite balanced even the complexicity.

From my dear woman: Pours hazy orange with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is funk, a lot of funk. Some hints of booze. Some hints of vinegar. Some healthy doses of fruitiness are also present in there. The aroma lingers in the nose (literal nose) after you place the glass down. Taste is funky at the front then a little sour at the back with an aftertaste that lingers for a little bit. The hops are pleasant and provide a nice, but very slight, bitter undertone to the otherwise yeast-forward beer. Quite nice.

Little cloudy red amber beer, big creamy beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: spicy, sweet, caramel, bit dusty, oxidized. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: citric start, very hoppy, grassy, bit zesty, fruity, sweet touch, some caramel, bit spicy. Aftertaste: bitter, grassy, little chemical bitterness, fruity notes with a lot of citrus, caramel, little sweet.

Re-rate: poured from 750mL bottle. Clear amber gold with small white head. Caramel malt, wood rot, gentle hopping. Decent. May 18, 2014 (8/3/7/3/15=3.6): Poured from 375mL bottle. Clear light copper with white head. Aroma of sweet malt with sour notes. Flavour is caramel, sweet malt, and a subtle sourness in the background. Very well balanced, but could be a little stronger flavour.

On tap. Pours an orange brown with medium head. Aromas of oranges and toffee. Flavours of pine, toffee, brown sugar, and bitter orange peel. Poured cold - likely better a bit warmer. Belgian Strong? With all these hops?

750ml bottle shared at home. Pours copper with good white head. Aromas of bretty funk, berries, caramel, mango and melon. Light sour and bitter taste. Lively carbonation, medium bodied, bitter finish. Very easy to drink.
