12 ounce bottle. Translucent cola brown color. Brief beige head. Sweet roasted malt nose. Flavor has notes of roasted malt, licorice, Worcestershire sauce and cocoa. 8% ABV is well hidden. Sticky dark malt mouthfeel.

The Aromas are a kind of metallic smoke and dark malt. Flavors are similar to nose, molasses stand out oh, on the sweet side with some robust carbonation. Not much roast. Okay Body and finish. Had better Baltic Porters.

Pours brown, creamy tan head.Nose shows chocoalte, bready malt, biscuity notes, cocoa, nutty malt, pralines, toasty notes.Flavours include more bready malt, sweet melanoidin notes, nutty characters, a bit of booze. More of a strong brown than a porter, not too much in the way of roasted malt. Still good though, approaching a doppelbock.

12oz bottle. Deep brown body, thin beige head. Kind of has that Eastern European semi-sweet chocolate flavor things going on, which is appropriate. Kind of tastes more like a European example than most US versions, which is sort of saying that it tastes cheap. Some warming alcohol tones among the chocolate syrup. Not bad, but not that impressive either.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark brown with a small foamy tan head. Aroma is moderately dark treacle with some darkish fruit and a hint of smoke. Med + body. Flavor is moderately dark treacle with dates and a hint of smoke. It's dryer than it might be, but there's some malty sweetness. There's something opposing the bitterness, but if it's hop I can't place it. So all in all, I am not all that sure of many things in this, but I do know I find it quite tasty and pleasing.

This was good, especially for an inexpensive beer. Sweet, some sugar, a little red wine, dried fruit. Good palate. Warming alcohol.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a red-brown color with a small soapy tan head that left no lacing. The aroma was malty and sweet with caramel, anise and bread dough. The flavor was dark fruit, toasty malt, bread dough, toffee, alcohol and a bit of astringency. Medium length finish. Medium body.

12 oz bottle. Aroma is roasty, cherry, toasted marshmallow, dark bread. Pours dark brown to black with ruby red highlights and a one finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is sweet and roasty with a faintly bitter finish. Flavors like the aroma descriptors. Nice beer.

Best by May 4th 2019 so, super fresh.
Looks very dark reddish brown, small but long lasting head of foam. Lacing is not lacking.
Caramel malt, earthy, maybe some bakers chocolate in the smell. Light roast. Smells like it fits the style.
Caramel malt sweetness with an earthy flavour that is appropriate. Bakers chocolate, again, contributes sweet notes. Light roasted malt that adds nothing to this beer's bitterness. Didn't want that anyways.
Good mouthfeel, good hiding of the alcohol.
I reckon that this is a nice addition to the Deschutes portfolio.

Bottle pours a deep mahogany dark brown with just a quick coarse tan head. Rich dark chocolate and light roast aromas and flavors. Malty and smooth. I expected it a bit darker but very nice all around. Better as it warms up a bit.
