Bottle. Not quite sure how I feel about someone putting raspberry junk in my imperial stout. Maybe I should have tried the Old Heathen first to have a frame of reference. Lots of stuff to think about before even starting on this one. Pour is a thickish and dark brown with a pretty healthy head for a stout. The tan color of the head has a little bit of a reddish hint. Aromas are weak for anything that self describes as an imperial stout. There is a bit of a fruity pull and then some charcoal and burnt coffee. Raspberry presence is strong enough that it burries some of the imperial stout hallmarks a bit and they have to wait to take the stage until the main show is over and the aftertastes take over. I really have no idea what to make of this... I like it, but don’t know if I would want it again...

Robitussin cough medicine and imperial stout mixed together, on par with Bell’s cherry rude imperial stout. Good example of a fruit beer on steroids or crack. Perfect example of an impy stout style.

Bottle. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma is smoked, fruit, hop. Flavour i smoked, fruit, raspberry, hint of berries, hop, mocca, sweetness. I think this is a beer in world class.

Bottle, thx to the_epeeist. Pours the perfect look. Really black body and a cute, brown head. Of course paler beers looks good too, but this is soo sexy. After looking at it in the glass, the aroma was a little turn-off. Not that it was bad, far from that, it was just less than expected. It’s roasted, with some hoppyness, and there’s a touch of raspberry, but I hoped it was more pronounced. The flavor on the other hand, was just where it should be, much more evident, with mocha, raspberry, coffee, some vanilla, and a sweetness to balance the dry and bitter flavors from the dark malts. I could wish for a fuller body, but on the other hand, too much good isn’t good either. A real beauty this is. (071123)

Bottle: Deep, dark brown pour with a huge tanned head. Nose starts with raspberry tartness and malty sweet aroma. Taste is a delicious blend of chocolate, malt, raspberries, and hints of vanilla. The tartness of the fruit really complimented the cocoa/mocha/coffee tones and rich maltiness. Thanks to DocLock for this gem!

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of xproudfoot. Very dark - almost pitch black - with a warm, reddish hue hidden underneath. Small, dense, beige head. Lovely raspberry aroma, almost entirely overpowering the roasted malt. Surprisingly the beer only appears medium-bodied with the fruit softening some of the sharp, burned edges so often found in impys. The result is a surprisingly soft and pleasant experience. An underlying tartness is to be detected. 171106

Bottle 500 ml. Black body with big brown head. A bit vague aroma considering the style and strength, roasted with a hint of raspberries and coffee. The flavor is nice, a stout with a well balanced taste of roasted malt, chocolate and a distinct taste of raspberries. Actually a surprisingly great combination.

Small beige head over pitch black body. Faint raspberry and milky burnt malts, balanced in a strange but nice way. Burnt, toasty sweetish malts taste followed by sweetish raspberry and chocolate. Burnt raspberry aftertaste. Quite good, if decidedly strange. Surprised that the combination of imperial stout and berries works as well as it does. (0.355l bottle.)

Pours deep maroon-black into a snifter. Slight mocha head hugs rim. Raspberry and dry chocolate aromas. Immediate sharp, fizzy raspberry puree flavors with a lasting bitter imperial finish that still includes lingering raspberry flavors. This is all about the raspberries and less about the stout.

12 oz bottle. Dark color, slight chocolate and fruit aroma. Coffee, chocolate, and a very good flavor of raspberry. Slightly tart, with an alright finish.
