50cl Bottle, same as Pinball described, from De Bierkoning. Cloudy orange colour, frothy yellow-white head. Aroma of mango, passionfruit, grapefruit, nice sweet fruity hops, earthy liquorice root. Flavour is malty, sweet, tropical fruits, hoppy bitterness with a fair amount of earthy liquorice. Medium bodied. Nice.

This might be a new beer from haandbryggeriet 6.5% "Dette specielle ølet er brygget med en lokal variant vill humle som vokser langs elvebreddene, ikke langt fra bryggeriet. ". This does not match that well with the RB description use of a mix of English hops. Label is green and the words "norwegian IPA at the bottom. I have mailed the brewer and will create a new beer if i get confirmation the recipe is different (different hopping). Pours clear to hazy orange brown, huge smooth head on first pour, large smooth head on following pours. looks great. Flowery dry hoppy aroma, pretty strong hoppy arom, american in the level of hop aroma. A litlle exotic fruits. faint malty caramelly note too, but hops are the dominant aroma. pretty bitter hoppy flavor too, flowers almost gone, dryness, bitterness, something resembling herbal licorice like flavor, faint orange juciy fruits, faint fruit peel bitterness. This is pretty damn tasty and very quenching. the malty balance is a bit lacking, but only because i start comparing this to the mikkeller single hop series. A very interesting india pale ale and very tasty too. I hope those elvebredde are huge and that there is plenty of hops there. This is pretty good. Brewed may 2010, tasted oct 2010 - at this time it tastes very good and the hop profile is still fresh. Bottle from bunker beer so it has been kept perfectly well since it hit the BB cellar.

Orange beer with medium and blond head. Aroma is fruitfull, excotic fruits, grapefruits, some pine needles and fructose sweetness. Flavour is dryer than aroma, some excotic fruits and overally flavour is quite simple, medium, but rough bitterness. Nice aroma, but flavour is not so good and more freshness would be nice. Good, but not top IPA.

(Draught at Olympen, Oslo, 5 Nov 2009) Hazy amber colour with brief, beige head. Fruity nose with citrus (orange, mandarin) and dried apricots. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of orange, mandarin, dried apricots and fresh citrussy hops in a bitter finish with a warming touch of alcohol. Slightly above medium body, balanced sweetness, generous bittterness. Nice and tasty IPA.

Bottle, batch 199, "Norwegian IPA" Shared at rating session in Tromsø 24.sep.09. Pours a murky orange-brownish colour, with greyish foam. Smells and tastes of vinegar and yeast. This was a big surprise, as I’ve always loved their IPA. When checking with the brewery they confirmed that the beer was defective due to problems at the brewery. This affected some of the batches. I will buy an other bottle. The "Norwegian IPA", with the green label is replacing the "India Pale Ale" (shown at the picture). I do not like the new design: it’s all green, so the characteristic fingerprints are hardly visible. I hope the beer is better than the design, next time I try it.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Hazy amber color with decent beige head. Aroma is damn barnyard over hop! Medium body with decent carbonation. Brett it is. Not a sour infection sort of thing. A barnyard sort of thing. Whew. There’s malt and hop, but the brett is the main thing. Finishes more like a hoppy saison than an IPA. Very good.
