This series of eight Spelingen van het Lot feature the ageing of the same lambikken on different wooden barrels. The lambikken come off two different brews, fully crafted with cereals sourced from our cereal collective and fully organic. The different wood types used are: American oak, German oak, acacia, the combination of German oak and acacia, chestnut, ash, cherry and mulberry. This bottle features the cherry wood and was handbottled on 454 bottles.

Bottle at 3F. Rich’s 50th do. Clear bright yellow-ish gold. Slim fairy dense white foam. Mineraly funk to start. Flora. Some woody herb. Taste is tart mineraly dry and lightly bitter and herbal. Very clean and bright overall. Foamy carbonation. Gently tart mineral finish.

Bottle shared at 3 Fonteinen, for Rich's 50th Bruxelles adventure. A light hazed orange coloured pour with a lasting loose white head. Aroma is funky wood, wet dog, grassy, leafy, horsey funk, lemon rind. Flavour is composed of tart and tangy, lemon rind, leafy hop, horsey funk, spicy funk. Mineral finish. Palate is tangy, chalky dry finish, spritzy highish carbonation.

Bottle split at 3F Lambik O Droom, 10/02/24. Moderately hazed orange to light amber with an off white cap that thins to a swirl. Nose is herb, grape just, light oak, berry skins, vinous, nutty. Taste comprises tangy pink berries, herb, wood must, damp straw, funk, barnyard. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a light acidic bite. Solid.

Pours darker blonde, no real head. Scent is full, aromatic, dry wood. Spiced, powdery , fruity touch almost. Very different to actual cherry fruit - far more herbal. taste is sharp, lactic yet complex, intense tartness. Touch acetic. Strong wood presence. Very different, it works well but it isn't of the same amazingness as some others in this series.

750mL bottle at 3 Fonteinen lambik-o-droom, pours an opaque dark orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy wood, a touch of cherry pith, earthiness, and gentle oak. Flavour is earthy and oaky, with gentle oak, light cherry pith, and earthiness. Dry, earthy, and lowly acidic. Not my favourite of the Single Wood series but pretty solid.

750ml shared with Ryan and Phill and an American gang. Appearance: hazy golden with a white head. Aroma: some cherries, manur, funk. Taste: same, low carbo. Overall: nice one.
