A collaboration with Emperor's Brewery, based in Coleville home of the original UK Star Wars toy factory Palitoy, Emperors have some of the top-rated beers in the world on Untappd.

Lots of sour cherries and cacao nibs go into this luscious and decadent imperial stout. Flavours of molasses and dark chocolate from the crystal and roasted malts combine with a sweetness from the huge grist and sourness from the fresh cherries to make a beer lightspeeds ahead of previous stouts.

Can. No fucken idea how the numbers part of Brew By Numbers works anymore, very solid system turned to jelly! Anyway, an opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, cocoa dark chocolate, obvious and a bit artificial but fine. Tangy and bitterish dark chocolate in the mid gives this brew a maturity it needed. The cherry comes through loud and clear on the back end, ripe cherry, a little maraschino cherry and a whisper of cherry brandy. Light and semi dry finish. Nice. This Impy needs to warm up a bit. Out the fridge it tastes a bit clunky and simplistic. A few degrees closer to room temperature reveals many more and better integrated layers.

Can (from Alko web). Pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, cherry, chocolate syrup with some mild roasted tones with some slight alcohol sweetness too. Flavour is cherries, some chocolate, roast and mild alcohol tones to it. Rather brutal.

Can 250ml (Alko) Opaque colour, small beige head. Toasted malts, cherry, marzipan in the sweet nose. Medium-bodied. Flavour is similar: toasted with sweet and sour cherries, alcohol and marzipan. Quite typical nowadays pastry stout. This one is not overly sweet.

Pours black-brown with a creamy, tan head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of bittersweet chocolate, lightly tangy dark cherries, some roast and earthy bitterness. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Mellow warmth to finish, more chocolate, cherry, ashy roast, scorched earth. Good stuff overall., 5/8/2024 8:02:09 PM

Keg at Brewdog Brighton, East Sussex. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Sweet, rich, malty, dark chocolate, cherry taste and aroma. An enjoyable imperial stout from Brew by Numbers.
