Keg @ Dukes, Halifax. Hazy golden with a glow. Crisp, mostly hoppy brew with hints of citrus fruitiness, alongside some piney notes.

Donzoko in Scotland presenting this cold IPA, one of the latest new IPA fads, making them as clean as possible to that the hops can shine as purely as possible, like in IPL; apparently the Donzoko crew even uses lager yeast, in effect making this beer indistinguishable from beers explicitly intended as IPLs. At Tilquin English Beer Festival, thanks Meeki for sharing. Snow white, moussy, membrane-lacing, stable head, misty straw blonde robe with vague greenish tinge. Aroma of lime zest, lemongrass, green mango, maracuja, pomelo, white bread, freshly cut canary-grass shoots. Dry, clean onset, very low in esters if any at all, perhaps a very faint dash of unripe pear and green banana, fizzy carbonation with slick mouthfeel, bit oily; clean cereally pale malts under citrusy and grassy hoppiness with a touch of grapefruit and even vague ‘old school’ pine, ending long, dry and oily bitter. Colourful and very agreeable, fragrant hop aroma undisturbed by much else, as clean and clear as a mountain stream and immensely ‘drinkable’.

Keg at 6DN. It pours clear yellow gold with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, ripe, green, weedy, fresh, fragrant, lemony, grapefruit, sherbet, verbena, orange fanta, touch of candy and orange chewits. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, firm, nice bitterness which linger, green, weedy, dank, herbal, peppery spice, minerality, pithy, zesty, straw, grass and clean backdrop with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate, fizzy carbonation. Really liking this one. Very good cold IPA.
