A legendary black mild with a distinct chocolate malt taste and a hop fruit finish.

Clear very dark brown beer with a frothy beige head. A light, malty aroma. There’s a bit hit of malt on the tongue and a slight chocolatey hint to it with a hoppy edge as well. The aftertaste is a sort of hoppy, coffee blend. It’s lighter than I was expecting too, both in terms of strength and body.

Smaczne mild Ale. Na uwagę zasługuje nietypowa butelka jak na rynek brytyjski. Ciemne piwo z krwistymi odcieniami, ze średnią pianką ale trwałą. Wspaniale się piło. Absolutnie dobre Mild

500ml bottle - a mild maltiness in the nose, a bit of burnt caramel. Look is a bit flat, dark body, minimal tan head. palate a bit thin, not much in the aftertaste. Nothing special, but not too bad.

50cl bottle from Morrisons. Gravy brown in colour with a loose beige head; gentle chocolate malt aroma; much more forceful chocolate malt taste; with a pleasantly dry, moreish finish. A rather good mild.

Suitably black in colour and has a mild roasted coffee flavour, but still tasty.

1 pint 0.9 oz. bottle from BrewTopia. Cap shows a stamped code but no date anywhere on the bottle. English pint show red tints around a dark brown beer. Short lived tan head. Nose and flavors go hand-in-hand. Roasted malts, light chocolate, coffee, good amount of caramel and Earthy nutty notes. I can’t find any hops in this bottle. Texture is lightly creamy. Body is a bit thin. I bet this would be real nice on cask. Nice to try.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours dark brown with small off-white head. Small bubble lacing, thin body, and light roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malt, bready, hints of cocoa, hints of smoke, and finishes grassy hops. Pass.

Tall, brown 500ml bottle, best before the end of Feb 2011, drank and reviewed 25th Jan 2011. Poured into a UK pint sleeve. Good, really dark brown body, teak wood red when held to a bright light. On top a well formed light brown head, which gave some heavy lacing. Semi-sweet dark chocolate smells, toasted/roasted malts too. The taste is typical dark mild malty, without anything being too rich or overpowering. Very little if any hop presence detectable. It does get a bit bitter towards the end of the mouthfeel, otherwise the beer is mid-dry, leaning towards semi-sweet in flavour. Slightly over carbonated for me, others may find it ’lively’. Not a great beer, but a long way from being a bad one.
