Formerly known as Sebourg beer, this abbey-type beer was rebaptized Saint Druon de Sebourg in 2000, as a tribute to Saint Druon and the little church in Sebourg, the next village to Jenlain. Malted barley and 3 varieties of hops grown in Alsace form the basis of this recipe, which, unlike Duyck’s other beers, also contains wheat from the Beauce region of France to give it an even more distinctive flavour, the Duyck’s use a specific strain of yeast exclusive to the beer.

Date on the 750mL bottle says 03/2004. Beer pours a deep golden-honey color, like a rich premium lager, you might say. Head is not terribly large, but creates a ton of lacing and is well-retained. A light cream color to it. Medium-sized bubbles rise, and the beer is very clear. Aroma of pencil shavings, light grass and honey dough/malted wheat. A bit of rustiness, iron or copper notes. Farmy, but not terribly strong or pervasive. Flavor is lightly acidic and a touch sour, from the yeastiness. Sweet honey notes and pale grains. Definite crayons/waxiness and not terribly complex. Lightly grassy hops on the end, adding some light bitterness. Kind of celery thing going on. Mouthfeel is lightly effervescent. Moderate carbonation, a bit watery at times. Light grassy bitterness lingers on, while there is some light coating of sweet honey malts. Like a really good Premium lager. . .

Blond color. Promising aroma, almost fruity; not maintained in the flavor, which is weaker. Ordinary palate.

Bottled. Golden coloured with light aroma of raspberry bubblegum. Sweet and fruity with notes of vanilla. Grassy finish where the bubblegum remains.

A light yellow beer with no head and no aroma. The flavor is sour and contains citrus and some slight wheat notes.
