Almost no head. Copper color. Fruity with lemon and apple, oak, funk, toasted seeds, and a tangy zip near the end. Medium to light body with a dry finish. Quite nice.

0.375 l bottle from 'Huis van de Geuze', bottled in June 2023, blend of 2, 3 and 4 year old lambic, 100% Eylenbosch. Slightly hazy, golden orange with a few white bubbles on top of it. Sweetish, sourish, quite funky and rather fruity aroma of overripe lemon, horse blanket, oak, gooseberry and apple. Quite sour, gently funky and rather fruity taste of overripe lemon, gooseberry, oak, horse blanket, leather and a touch of apple, followed by a short, fairly tart, slightly dry finish. Medium body, quite astringent and a little effervescent mouthfeel, very soft carbonation. Very refreshing lambic, quite complex, rather sour but still very enjoyable. Good one.

One of the more recent additions to the growing range of 'new' Eylenbosch products, a blend of old lambic (over two years) by De Troch on the one hand and the renewed Eylenbosch on the other hand - which raises questions about is classification here as 'unblended' lambic, to be fair; then again, considering Eylenbosch lambic is actually brewed at De Troch, I guess this can be considered a blend of two near-identical old lambics - but even then it is still a blend... Anyway: from a 37.5 cl bottle with cork and muselet, bought at Geers. Egg-white, moussey, quite dense and creamy head, slowly opening over an initially near-clear, yellow blonde robe with deeper 'old golden' glow and a few lonely bubbles of carbon dioxide here and there - clearly some 'spontaneous' refermentation has been going on here; hazy with sediment. Aroma of unmistakable De Troch lambic (the one lambic that is so distinct from others that I can pick it out of any blend in which it is used), with notes of old dried grapefruit peel, lemonbalm from an old herbarium, young dandelion leaves, old wood, lightly roasted sunflower seeds, dried southernwood, cracked leather, hard green apple, hints of old plum kernels, straw, tofu, beurre noisette, oloroso, fried pumpkin flesh. Dry onset, bereft of any leftover sugars, rather astringent with impressions of bitter orange and unripe green plum as well as a touch of Granny Smith apple, lightly carbonated (not flat - refermentation effects again) with some minerally side notes here and there; old dried lemon peel lingers alongside this unripe stonefruit astringency along a dry-old-bready core with growing woody tannins, further accentuating the overall dryness and astringency. Bretty funkiness of old leather, heavily oxidized oloroso and damp hay comes up clearly retronasally, as befits old lambic; ends dry and tannic with still this wry green apple effect dominating, but there is also a vinous aspect to it in the end. Dry, astringent, 'green', even bitter, this is indeed what I expect from an aged De Troch lambic - which is almost the same thing as Eylenbosch lambic so far - but I still I have grown up to believe that old lambic really does not belong in a bottle and should be utterly flat like wine, so it is hard not to see glimpses of geuze here. Now for that actual oude geuze by Eylenbosch, which seems to have replaced the earlier 'Prematuurke' meanwhile!

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours reddish amber, fairly transparent, with no foam. Aroma is nice and funky, though not aggressive, with some red fruits and orange peel. Body is average, with no carbonation. Some astringency. Taste is dry and sour, maybe a little unidimensional.

Clear orange beer, small creamy white head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: nice, a bit fruity, lots of oranges, wood, slightly funky, a bit malty. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, woody, lots of lemon, dry, spicy, nice! Aftertaste: more bitterness, lemony, clean acidity, fruity, some yellow summer fruit, brett, complex.

Bouteille 37.5cl de et partagée avec Tderoeck, merci. Anno 2021, batch# OL21004, bottled 23/02/2021, BB 23/02/2026.

Pours hazed, darker blonde/amber. medium white head. Stable (!) white head. Scent is funky, woody, apple. Very Oud Beersel like. Taste is full, slightly tart. Dry, woody, very refined lambic. Quite mild, but enjoyable.
