Pours a dark, brown-black, with small tan head. Aroma is burnt coffee, some roasted grain. Flavor follows, with some smoke lingering. Light sweetness. Soft mouthfeel. Very smooth.

Pours a rich near black from a bottle, poor retention of the head, no lacing. Big roasted chocolate malt, espresso powder, and toffee aroma. Very similar flavor, chocolate very present. Rather sweet. Pretty good beer.

Bottle pour. It's a dark, dark brown (almost black) with some ruby, nice sparkle, finger width of fizzy light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong earthy roasted malt and lighter toffee with hint of anise. Taste follows aroma, though toffee is more present initially, and a bit of alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth, creamy texture, soft-to-average carbonation, mild alcohol warmth and mostly toffee finish. Overall, nice strength to aroma and flavor with decent complexity. Alcohol presence detracts a bit.

16.9oz fresh bottle drunk 5/ 22/21.
Clear, cola-tinted, dark mahogany with a dark beige head that shows moderate-to-low retention.
Classic/traditional baltic porter nose shows a plethora of dark fruits, toasted malts and plentiful dark chocolate. Hops are restrained and minimal, adding light floral/earth. Lots of vinousness on the end from all this acidity from the dark malts/unroasted barley. Little/no alcohol though still rather warming/strong and could use more cellar time, it seems.
Cola, caramel, raisins, toffee and buttercream all balance against concord grape, prune and fig-like acidity. Sweetness persists on the end with more warmth from light alcohol tones. Body is medium for the style and while it never feels thin, it's a bit lighter than expected. But it's extremely well-done; you couldn't be more spot-on for the flavor profile for the style. No attempt at ruining it with modernization of hops/lactose/more malt, etc...just a classic rendition.

500 ml traded by tfontana. Thanks Tom. Time to drink this! Consumed at cellar temperature. Aroma is toasted barley, chocolate, toffee. Flavor has chocolate, toffee, star anise, and maybe a little bit of smoke. Slight warming after the sip. Nice depth of malt.

Bottle in trade from tfontana, thanks for the opportunity! Dark brown bordering on black with faint garnet at the edges and a huge frothy tan head that persists. Rich toffee chocolate and dark fruit on the nose, smell wonderful! Aroma carries through into the flavor adds some light licorice and earthy hops to the mix. Faint warming in the finish, moderate carbonation, sweet creamy sticky mouthfeel. Really tasty sipper, glad I got to try it.
