No hops in this beer. The aroma and flavor have smoke and medium sweet malt. Fairly dry overall. Medium palate. Dark brown color. A nice session beer. Thanks to Skyview for this one.

A few 500ml bottles (batch 316) during Yuletide 07. This is the first season when it has been possible for us in Tromsø to buy Julesnadder at the supermarket (ICA). It is, indeed, a welcoming ale to be enjoyed alone on a dark polar night or quite perfect as a partner to our "rich, greasy Norwegian Christmas dishes" such as svineribbe and pinekjøtt.
A creamy, beige head with very nice filigranes is resting on a slightly cloudy, rusty body. Appealing aroma with a nice mix of dark chocolate and caramel malt added by a touch of liquorice. The taste has got a dark malty foundation becoming more and more bitter. Good finish duration with bitter coffee and bitter fruity shells. Smooth natural carbonation. Medium bodied (The Holiday Season 2007. Rating no. 1160 and my last one in 2007).

Well, the label is all in Norwegian, but I’m fairly certain it says batch # 209 on it - dark ruby pour, with a compact but lasting off-white head - quite apparent english ale yeast and doughy character in the aroma, along a hard water/mineral smell, light chocolate, mild herbal notes and moderate spices (nutmeg/cinnamon) - strong, dry marris otter flavor - seems very scottish ale-like, with a mild roastiness, and indistinguishable herbs and spices far in the background - moderate bitterness compliments the dryness - mild cocoa flavors, some munich malt fruitiness, and subtle doughy character break through the initial dryness - a little bit thin, but a nice, quaffable Christmas brew.

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a lacing light brown head. Chocolate smooth aroma, mild vanilla. flavour holds much the same in a slight sweet blend. Finish holds a nice chocolate bitterness lingering into the finish. Has a slight acidic note which gently breaks the chocolate malt flavours.

Dark brown with the classic nøgne ø bubbly head. Malty deep sweet aroma. Filling body - closer thin that thick though. Taste is roasted malty caramel/nutty & light chcolate with a hoppy background. Very nice & pleasant! A lot of flavor compared to the ABV!

2005 bottle, 4.5%. Sweet, papery aroma. Very roasted and creamy. Almost totally black colour. Nice, creamy, stable light brown head. The flavour is creamy, sweetish, chocolaty with some soft fruit hoppiness. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, but that is to be expected with this ABV. After some sips, there is a little soap, then some roasted barley bitterness and hop sourness, which both get a bit much after a while.

Big brown head over opaque black body. Complex, harmonic sweetish aroma of peppery coffee, burnt malts, pine needles, and chocolate. Taste is soft, harmonic burntness, coffee, chocolate, and pine needles with faint vanilla and spice notes. Bitter, burnt aftertaste. Woody notes linger. Good, firm mouthfeel, yet soft. This is a great beer. Kind of like a very good spicy stout. (0.5l bottle, batch 258.)
