Bottle 500 ml. Dark brown body with a creamy white head. Spicy, roasted coffee aroma. Easy drinkable and refreshing Christmas beer, surprisingly tasty to be only 4,5% alcohol. Relatively short aftertaste. Nice to drink alone or together with food, but taste very little after God Jul (the bigger version of NØ Christmas beer). Anyway, the best Norwegian Christmas beer to be sold in regular food shops in Norway (below 4,75% )

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a beautiful, clear mahogany with a creamy, beige head. Hard roasted malt in the aroma. For a Nøgne Ø beer the body is surprisingly light - medium at the most - almost a bit watery. Lots of hard roasted malt in here with a vaguely burned edge. Subdued bitter finish. This mostly reminds me of a light English Porter or Mild. Pleasant and very quaffable. 220505

Black color; creamy head. Quite ordinary Porter, with a light malt and hop aroma, and a medium malty taste. Quite long final.

Bottled at Uptown. (#200/2005) Deep brown with a small tan head. Light roasted aroma with coffee, spices and hops. Flavor is much like aroma. Medium body with a long, light bitterness. Certainly the best of the Norwegian Christmas beers with an ABV below 4,75%. Rating: 6-4-6-4-15-3.5 (051103)

Bottle. (#318/2007) Pours a dark brown, slightly hazy body with minimal, beige head. Chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, some vanilla and a lovely Cascade hoppiness. I would prefer a fuller body, but for a 4.5% ABV beer, it’s sure approved. The flavor follows the same path as the aroma, with that lovely citrusy, piney hoppy bitterness towards the end. Coffee and chocolate are sure present, and there’s that vanilla touch as well. The nice hoppy flavors lasts for a long time, leaving the malty flavors more and more in the background the longer into the finish one gets. I know there’s been adjustments to this vintage, and they are sure succesful. A very drinkable beer, and still suited as a drink by the fireplace. (071216)

Bottled. Ruby red colour, big beige creamy head. Malty aroma with hints of alcoholic sweetness (though no big ABV!). A bit roast and spices also in the aroma. Roasted malts along with a bit hops and raisins in flavour. Strong roasted aftertaste, which also lasts pretty long.

Bottled (bryggt 15.10.2004, batch #110)
Dark brown, ruby, lots of floating yeast. Steady creamy tanned head. Aroma of milk chocolate and pinewood. Chocolaty, roasted, yeasty, a bit hoppy. Of course a bit light bodied (as being only 4,5%) but well-balanced and delicious.

Slim yellowish head, soon gone, over deep-dark chestnut/mahogany beer; beautifully bottom-sticking yeast. Chocolate & piney nose; slight burning notes, as heated, full-chocolate sauce; burnt grain. Pure, piney & dark chocolate flavours, not heavy but very perfumed. Touch of black cardemompeel, and also some mineral saltiness. Medium bodied, warming feeling without ethanol character. Simply superior for a 4.5 % ABV beer. How does one say "my humblest eulogies" in Bokmaal? Big thanks, B., A. & P.!
