Et mørkt tradisjonelt gårdsøl brygget for høytidene ved norske gårdsbruk. Delikat røykpreg, balansert bitthert og dyp sjokoladesmak. Nissefar er for oss, definisjonen av et norsk juleøl.

50cl bottle, batch # 508, bbe 14.08.15. Pours almost black with a light brown, thick lasting head. Licorice, roasted malt, coffee notes in aroma. Lovely.Flavor has roasted malt, ash, tar and coffe. Finish is dry with smoke and ash, some spiciness that lasts. Plastic notes pushing through when cold. Balanced any enjoyable, perfect winter beer.

A dark brown beer with an almost medium, dense and beige head. Aroma of roastiness, wood, spices, earthyness; complex and nice aroma.Taste is similar than aroma, dark malts, smoke, spices, wood and herbs, quite dry taste. Medium+ bodied, smooth and pleasant to drink. Complex and balanced, honest and tastafull beer.

50 cl bottle @ home. BBE 11/2010, Rated on 15.01.2011
Aroma is a bit flat and stale with lots of roasted malt. Flavour has some dark, ripe fruits and lots of somewhat roasted malt. Also hints of cardboard, probably a bit too old bottle. 7-3-7-4-15=3.6
50 cl bottle @ home. Batch #508: bottled 14.08.2012, BBE 14.08.2015
A re-rate with a fresh bottle.
Aroma is roasted with coffee and some smoke. Also some dark chocolate and hints of cocoa. Flavour is moderately hopped with ash, some smoke, woody notes, licorice and coffee. Too ashy, reminds me of Norwegian wood. 7-4-7-3-15=3.6

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thick, frothy, perfectly microfoamed tan head - about four centimetres tall. Aroma of malt, raisins, prunes, concord grapes, must, mushrooms and a touch of earth. Medium to Full-bodied; Dense, thick chocolate flavour at first with a good dose of pit fruits and some deep fruit flavours of prunes and plums with a bit of dates. Aftertaste shows a lot of complexity with some basement mustiness, some mushrooms, chocolate, a lot of alcohol, metal and a good level of earthy malt. Overall, a nice beer with a ton of great complexity, a nice layer of flavours and some great sweetness. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Liqour Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 20-November-2011 for US$8.95 sampled at home in Washington when the weather finally got sort of chilly on 12-February-2012. Batch 307, Total Bottles 3240, my bottle was bottled on 07-September-2010.

Bottle at Camp Beer IX. Pours a dark amber with a small beige head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is roasted malt raisin. Medium mouthfeel with smoke raisin and coffee and a nice light spice finish. A good old ale from Haand.

Bottle at home. Dark brown to black with a light brown head, somewhat creamy. Smells of roast coffee, smoke and milk chocolate. Wonderful smoky flavours and nice balanced coffeelike medium bitterness. Sweet and dark chocolate as well. A slick and silky mouthfeel. Low carbonation. A nice and well balanced beer in every step. Not what I would call a typical christmas beer, but still a fantastic beer. Excellent with tasteful cheese.

2010 vintage keg. Pours with a hazy deep brown hued body with a tan head. Aromas are super malty, dark fruits, melanoidins, molasses, raisins, dates, figs, brown sugar and hazelnuts. Flavors are of raisins, dry chocolate, molasses, dark fruits. Overall very malty, and some bitterness I associate with blackstrap molasses. Tastes a bit aged, light tea notes. Creamy carbonation with a fuller body. Pleasant.
